Now- hear me out, okay? I believe weirdcore / kidcore is a sort of trauma coping mechanism. It reminds me of ‘the childhood you never had.’ It’s supposed to comfort you, remind you of your childhood before it was spoiled, but at the same time add an eerie-ness and creepy part to it because you know that childhood isn’t real and will soon be destroyed. What do you think?

Weirdcore (or whatever you call it) gives off this certain feeling I can't put my finger on. It's uneasy, yet comforting. It's unfamiliar to me, but it also feels so nostalgic. The bright colors and the seemingly pleasant music reminds me of my childhood, where some of my best memories were made. Weirdcore also brings me back to my most memorable dreams (some considered nightmares), which are quite similar to the content. Can anyone relate to this, and may someone tell me if there's a word for this feeling?

Yo, I once had a nightmare where someone’s neck grew to be like 9 feet tall (and I mean only the neck) and she was running around my school looking for me. And she’d always stretch her neck around corners and call out my name, but she caught up with me eventually and trapped me in a room and I had to punch, kick, bite, scratch her neck to keep her away from me. It was terrifying. Then one of the teachers came in (she looked like my mom) and saw what was happening and I tried explaining everything to her but she wouldn’t listen and was on the long necked chick’s side so I felt really betrayed. I woke up at 3 am after that and couldn’t go back to sleep, lmao. I was like, 5 y/o too

0:01 Quick storytime of a very vivid Nightmare I had as a kid. It was about 2014, (I was born in 2002) and I used to be TERRIFIED of dolls after seeing the Annabelle movie with some older friends of mine. I had this one dream where i was in the basement of my house and there was this doll that had a knife. when i tried to run away, it was like I couldn't move. when i tried to scream for my mom, all that came out was a croak. if i tried to attack or pick up the doll, it would be extremely heavy and I wouldn't be able to move it at all. anyway, thanks for reading a story about one of my many freakish nightmares I had as a kid. comment down below if you want more!
