It definitely has a price premium over the Roborock version which is still $950 over at Target. Not sure if all the other stuff wins when you consider the current price difference. Definitely something to consider, especially as sales and such vary throughout the year, though I feel like Roborock might position the pricing more permanently in relation to the Dreame due to the increased competition and such, especially if videos and articles like this keep coming out.

Just purchased this during their Black Friday sale for $1050. It's currently $1500 but has a $300 coupon. I will say that so far I'm extremely happy with the obstacle avoidance. It even recognizes cords on carpet, which can some times blend in and also shows the results of what it recognizes in the app after it's done cleaning and even provides a picture of the obstacle! It also gives you the option to submit feedback on if it recognized the obstacle wrong. I purchased the Eufy X9 Pro a few months ago because it had high praise for its obstacle avoidance but it didn't come anywhere near the Dreame L20 with its AI technology. It was constantly running over cables and beeping for me to go tend to it. The Dreame L20 definitely doesn't need a babysitter. Very happy so far.

How does the L20 compare to the X9 with regards to mopping capabilities?

We're in the process of returning this vacuum. We have a large house with hard floors and area rugs. Our previous Roborock S6 needs to recharge twice to complete a run, but vacuums the entire house in about 4 hours of actually cleaning time. We don't use the mop feature and bought this for the suction power. Each time we tried it, this Dreame took over 8 hours to vacuum half of the house and then got lost until it ran out of power. When we took it back to the dock, it decided it was finished and never went back out to complete the job nor did it self empty. It's loud and the noise got really old after that many hours on wood and tile floors. The app is difficult to navigate compared to Roborock's. Just grateful it's returnable.
@phamkun771610 ай бұрын
I had the same robot for 3 days. 1st impression is the fast-mapping isnt that good, tho i dont have any other robot that have the feature before so i cant say for sure. The 2nd time I let it ran, it did great. The first time the robot clean is supper slow. Like its confused A LOT. BUT most of the problem is due to the app, by default, it only let you use two modes: Routine Cleaning and Deep Clean, both used the AI to detect the more dust area and clean that area. That's the main reason why the robot navigation is weird. However, you can use customize tab to have it runs like roborock pattern, and it fixed all of the issue that i have with the navigation, for now.

@@CannabisTechLife dreame L10s ultra is about 400-500 bucks cheaper during sale season. It has similar function as L20 but without the water kit. I end up buying L10s ultra and just drill a hole into each of the water tank. Then add cheap 20 bucks aquarium pump to drain the waste water and fill the clean water tank once the water level sensor triggers. Now my L10s can auto drain and auto fill via the water pipelines. No need to pay 500 bucks more when you can replicate the function via 40 bucks of DIY material.

I have 4 levels in my house so have an X1 Omni in the basement, an S8 Pro Ultra on the bedroom level, and tried an X2 Omni for a week on the main living level. I ultimately returned it and replaced it with an L20 Ultra. The L20 Ultra is the best robot vacuum I have ever owned. The app needs some work, but very usable. Aside from that is is a beast! The droppable mopping pads is my favourite feature, but the battery is a close second. It has power for days! Comfortably does 3500 ground floor with mixed hard wood and rugs with ease. It feels a lot like the X1 Omni, but better in most areas. Comfortably #1! My issues are limited to the app. Unlike other vacuums it is impossible to change the suction power, or anything related to the active task, once started. A minor inconvenience, but it is a feature we use regularly.

I got this directly from Dreame's Website for 950 dollars NO TAX asked for at all. WOW! I got the product on time before it had shipping delays and was able to give it to my mom for christmas. I am very very impressed by this robot vacuum as it doesn't struggle and doesn't get stuck and does a fantastic job vacuuming and mopping everything. It does get lost in my home from time to time but not for a long time picks up fairly quickly. I want to say one thing tho there is nowhere that I found that advertises the downward pressure the mops give. For those of you that want to know I asked Dreame's support team and they said the Mop Pressure is 7N for Hardfloors and 12N for Tile and everything else.
@TheNature1013 ай бұрын
Interesting that they say 7N for hardfloors and 12N for tile. Cause tile is considered a hardfloor. BTW, I bought it brand new for $650 during the one day sale on July 4th. At that price is a steal. However the Dreame X40 destroys it with 12,000Pa suction and awesome new features, but I can only find it at $1200 from its list $1900, and I did not think it was worth almost double the $650 price of the L20 Ultra.

Came back to the channel after a bit of a break because I saw the news about Amazon's acquisition of iRobot falling through. I was really hoping Amazon's influence might help iRobot bring the prices of it's upper range models down a touch, but I guess the chances of that happening were slim to none in the first place. I know lower end robot vacs are really quite affordable these days, but I'm looking for a little more functionality to make it worth it to me. Something like this Dreame L20 Ultra would be nice, but, but at this price I'd still rather just do a less frequent but more thorough manual clean.

I set up my new L20 ultra today, and it did a great job on my hardwood flooring, but I ran into issues with carpeting/mats. First, it got tangled and confused on a cowhide area rug, so I made that a no-go zone. Then, it mistook the pattern on my entry mats for cords, so I had to turn off the AI avoidance. Finally, the anti-fatigue mat by my sink set off the bump bar because it's too tall, so I have to remove it while cleaning. I'll have to get new mats that are lower and don't have a border pattern if I plan to take full advantage of all the great features. Overall, it's an amazing machine. I just need to make my house more robot friendly 😊.

Thanks, I was really wondering what the methodology and reasoning was around your results. The competing roborock model is massively cheaper right now at $950 so it was really confusing as to why Dreame would win. My understanding also is that Dreame doesn't have much of a reputation yet around their products, especially when it comes to durability since they are so new, so it was doubly confusing as Roborock's seems really solid. What do you think about publishing a spreadsheet or something with each test, model, and resulting scores, and prices, or something so we can easily see and compare all the work you've done and each product reviewed? I think it would be really useful for consumers if you did.

Another nice review. This was one of the robot mop vacs I was considering when shopping around a few months ago. It's lack of brand familiarity and few reviews left me hesitant when I was doing my own research. As such, I ended up pre-ordering the Ecovacs X2 Omni and received it at the beginning of October. After receiving my feedback on it, my mother ended up ordering the X2 Omni as well less than a month later and we often compare notes on how they are performing, issues, quirks, etc. And while I saw where the X2 Omni ranked on your 2023 top list, I'd be interested to see a more thorough review of it with your thoughts. I wonder if some of its initial shortcomings that prevented it from placing higher in your top list may have been resolved with some recent firmware updates that have been pushed to it (I recently got 1.62.0). The app still has some quirks that I think could still use some improvements that other brands do better, but the X2 Omni itself over the past two months of use has been a pretty solid performer. Definitely an improvement over my older Neato D7 Connected and iRobot Braava Jet M6.

I was surprised that this thing seemingly hit some of the fake poop, as did all of the Roborock vacuums in your 3-way comparison. I sort of worry about all these vacs where the vacuum portion is narrower than the mop portion. One of the main things my robot vac needs to clean are little scattered granules of kitty litter. If the vacuum misses it but the mop finds it, I'm worried it will drag the hard little granule around and scratch up my floors. I guess the best option is to have it sequentially vacuum first, then mop.

Will you be reviewing the Deebot Omni X2? So many bad reviews online from customers. I'm holding back from buying until I see your review sir. Thank you 😊
@houseofwarmth257810 ай бұрын
I have two of them. It is buggy. I would think those things could be fixed with a firmware update but I’m assuming that is 5-6 months down the line. If you can get past the navigation mess and get a good map it actually cleans pretty well.

@@houseofwarmth2578 ya, that's not going to cut it. Price tag for a half done product is a bad deal for me.

Please add a doorway threshold test to your evaluation parameters: I have several 2 cm doorway thresholds in my apartment and my Roborock S8 often gets stuck on them which is very annoying. It would be good to know how well robot vacuum cleaners are able to pass these thresholds before buying them.

I see robot reviewers still advertising people to buy bots that don't solve their problems in real but to buy it simply because it's up for grabs. I have s5, s6, s7 and s7 max ultra. Never once did this reviewer like many other reviewers stated that you need to take care of these bots like a baby and you need to spend time cleaning them. And maintening them. Happy with the s7 max ultra finally, but still need auto plumbing mod kit. Which is only available for the older maxV variation.

It’s not good for pet hairs. It doesn’t do automatic cleaning as the pet hairs get stuck. I replaced the system twice to understand it’s a drawback. The company was telling me that it’s a hardware issue! I don’t think I get two products with same hardware issues!
@tommykokko23365 ай бұрын
Same issue for me. Basically a waste of money. The auto emptying can't even get the dog hair out when its less than 20% full. Very dissappointed with the robot and also kind of dissappointed that @vacuumwars didn't take this into account.

So compared to my new 649€ Q Revo this just adds edge mopping and the cleaning solution dispenser. I make sure my floor is clear before having it cleaned so obstacle avoidance isn’t a priority. I also don’t have carpets. L20 ultra is 1199€, 450€ more. I get why robots like these get high scores but I find it hard to praise this one because of the price…
@Demonomania8710 ай бұрын
You could have bought the L10S ultra which is honestly almost just as good and has most of the features of the L20 ultra apart from the mop detachment and it was 689 euro during black friday sale.

How many of the features will work without the use of Wi-Fi?? Can you at least pare the Dreame L20 to the app using data so one could have use of at least the basic settings on the robot? I understand that one wouldn’t have use of the mapping and some of the more advanced settings.

@VacuumWars I was asking for ideal best option so out of all you've tried. Anyway the new dreame x30 and g30 looks like the best option. It's a 2 in 1 but performance is excellent in vacuuming and mopping.

During Black Friday sales, I considered this vacuum among others, such as the Roborock s8 and Q Revo. However, I am very skeptical of the complex docks that wash mop pads and store dirty water. I worry about reliability, sanitation, and effectiveness. I chose the combo J9+ to avoid those worries. Plus, based on your review, it seems to be among the best, or even very best, at pure cleaning tasks. Part of me wishes I chose this or a Roborock, but I hope I made the right call. Have you used a Roborock or other premium robot vacuum long enough to gauge the reliability of the most advanced docks?

We decided on the combo J9+ for the same reason. It was just delivered today. Hoping we made the right choice.

Can you compare the Dreame L20 Ultra vs the Roomba S9+ and Braava Jet M6 Bundle?
@deanthomson16548 ай бұрын
Would it even be a comparison? The brava m6 would take 3 hours to cover the area, and just goes back and forth rather than rotating, it also doesn't fill, empty, or clean itself. iRobot is getting demolished, there's a reason their stock is one of the most shorted in existence. They either will up their game soon, or die.

Nice review. This one seems to have lots of features even I would consider useful. The form factor looks almost identical to that of the Ecovacs Omni X1 and after my experience with that one, this isn't a good thing. My biggest problem with some robots is no matter how elaborate the navigation system described to be, many of them don't perform well in real-world use. They do stupid things like stopping in the middle of a cleaning run for no apparent reason, pushing light objects around instead of avoiding them, and randomly ramming into things - over and over and over again. Thus far, in my limited experience, Roborock works best in real-world use. Roborock - you can send me a free vacuum for constantly singing the praises of your robots.
