Dreams (PS4) Tutorial - Health Bar

Hey everyone! Looking at the last time I uploaded and... It's been a little while. For anyone who cares: The good and the bad. The bad is I have been swamped with work and other day to day responsibilities, so I've had no time for anything (like tutorials). The good is the lack of time is forcing me to make videos shorter and hopefully more palatable for you:) I'm hoping to be able to do more soon!

By far the best tutorial on health. It is so useful for so many things, not just health. You can do mana bar, and effects that relate to damage

I'd love to see you do a level linking tutorial about carrying over persistent variables. I'll plan to use this health bar system, but I'd like current health to carry over between scenes. How is that done?

Thank you for this! Much simpler than many other tutorials, btw you can make the health bar in the middle if you choose left on the top option in the text box

When you have time to do your next tutorial, I would suggest doing basic tutorials on each of the logic gadgets showing how they work, that would be really cool.

This is super helpful. Thank you. Could you maybe make a tutorial making a segmented re-generative health bar? Basically a bar that is broken into 4 sections. If one bar is depleted it is depleated until you pick up a health pack. If if isn't depleted, the section will regenerate after a moment of rest and taking no damage. Like resistance fall of man if you ever played that? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So i did everything but when i test it i can only get my puppet to a surten amount of health, somewhere around 80/150 but then he just regenerates everything that damages him and he stays at around 80

Okay I found it, this was actually a little missing ! To show your healthbar you have to type a space in the text boxes. If there is nothing to the text box, nothing will show, it's as simple as that. ;)

Could this be used as a hunger or thirst bar and if so, how would you do it?

Yes. As for how, I'm only a logic beginner but I think using a timer would work. Set the timer to however long you want your hunger or thirst to be, then hook the signal manipulator up to the timer instead of the Current Health. When you eat or drink, reset the timer. Might work, might not. I just know there IS a way.

That would be cool but I wanna know if you would be able to make a sprint bar or (if you’ve played SCP CB before and if you haven’t played it don’t pay too much attention to the next part) a blinkometer (timer that forces you to blink once every few seconds)

I don’t know why, but every time I do the step where you’re supposed to use the keyframe to lower the green bar with the black bar staying where it is (draining health), the black bar always comes with it, even when I have only the green bar text box selected. This is very frustrating for me...

How do you prevent the dang thermometer from popping up when you're imp moves to the bottom left corner to drag the green bar left?

I think I did something wrong, I lower my puppets health but the green goes back up and the red goes away, there is also a little bit of green on the bar, I don’t know what I did wrong.

Dude, never seen someone talk and move so fast in my life in a tutorial. Need to slow it down. This method doesn't work anyhow halfway through. Might have missed something unsure gave up and found another and simpler way to achieve the same outcome.
