I've always loved this film. Everything about it, is a gorgeous animated spectacle and always will be. And DreamWorks, "who said this movie needed a franchise?"

You know, it could work, if they didn't make it a cringe story for little girls

I'm late in the comment, but just wanted to say : once again, Hans Zimmer did such a remarquable soundtrack for this movie that just listening a few notes of "run free" still gives me goosebumps. Even after 11 years.

I watched that movie over and over again when I was younger. My all-time favorite movie, at least one of my favorites.

I will never not love this movie. Coming from my younger self who was (and still is) a horse girl and was also a young native girl who had no representation. The movie shows the reality of the history of the west in a light that I knew even from a young age. The symbolism of colonization on indigenous peoples being so parallel with the horses felt so real and natural. Will always be a fav

Spirit was one of my favorite films from my childhood. It made my appreciation for 2D animation and cinema to grow as I grew up. I’m planning to watch the new one just to see how bad it is.

My family and I have an almost cult-like love for this film. We've watched it multiple times a year for almost 20 years now, so I had no idea it wasn't as popular as some other classics

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU 100 % this movie did NOT need a remake or a spin off, a better idea would have been to re release the original exactly as it was in 2002!

One of the creators of Brother Bear did an interview on Cinema Therapy's channel here on youtube, and he talks about why they made the choice to put the song there. He said that in test runs of that scene, it was just waaay to sad and deep for the target audience they were aiming for to just have Kenai flat out go into the story of how Sitka died trying to protect him and Denhi, and so due to guilt and revenge Kenai killed Koda's mom.... like Koda in the story is very young, and so were a lot of kids watching this. I do see how us older people would want that deeper emotionally moment, but i think for the general audience that scene works.

I did not know that. That is a pretty cool little fact. Makes sense for the general audience like you said.

When I was younger, I could not appreciate how much went into this film but now that I’m older, I see it a compelling story that makes you not wanna look away sound effects, beautiful art, and animation. This movie was just peak.

From the time I first watched it in early 2006, this has been my favorite DreamWorks film. And it remains on my Top 5 favorite movies overall.

I was 1 when the movie came out and it influenced my life from then on, I had the toys, backpack, and VHS until I got a CD later on in life. What blew my mind recently was that Baskin Robins did a promo for the movie and had ice cream flavors like S'mores and Wild 'N Reckless... the thing is I grew up only getting Wild 'N Reckless every time we went to that specific ice cream shop and I heavily believe it was bc of this movies influence. Heck, I still do bc it's something I've been doing since I gained consciousness.

To this day definitely my favorite animated film ever, and since I was a teen has played a surprisingly essential part of my life at least when it comes to internet communities and friend groups; it's incredibly soul-lifting to see people still discussing just how great it is even so many years later. Beautiful perfect masterpiece uncluttered by comic relief lol

This movie was REquired Viewing for any kid who loved horses growing up, and as one of those kids who grew up I'm SO glad Spirit's getting more appreciation these days. Call me when we get a graphic novel release of the absolutely terrifying and violent original script!

I adored this movie as a child, and even today when I watch it I cry all the way through haha. Nothing wrong with that. It's a movie that's...moving. I remember I would bring the soundtrack CD to my 1st/2nd-grade class and during free time, my friend and I would sit on the counter, playing the CD and singing along to all of the songs. We probably annoyed a lot of people lol

This spirit stallion of the cimmaron is a film that is awesome I remember when I was little me and my two sisters would watch this so many times stuck on repeat that my mother got so sick and tired of hearing it she would get my father to do anything to prevent us for watching it like seriously we had to go for a long time without watching it but yes I agree this film is a remarkable gem and the new one that they made as of for the series itself is shit the first one which is the original is so much better then the new one I swear they only gave this film a remake is for the money what happened to you DreamWorks in the past yeah we can do better then Disney and now we just do remakes for the money who cares what the audience thinks well DreamWorks you only got as good as how to train your dragon and now what have you become.

im late to finding this video but i grew up watching spirit (it came out two years before i was born lol). there was a period of time where i would refuse to watch anything else and would just loop spirit all weekend until it got banned in my house bc it was driving my family insane LMAO. anyway i love that its getting so much attention nowadays and that so many people are talking about it. i wish i couldve been there for its release in cinemas but its so cool to see people talk about it anyway

The part that really gets me when seeing reviews about this movie (and others in general that are very much underappreciated) is the fact that DUMB "CRITICS" SCORE THIS AS BELOW AVERAGE CAUSE IT DOES NOT FOLLOW THE MODERN TROPE THAT THERE HAS TO BE CHARACTERS SET A CERTAIN WAY. It also sucks because of that, they had to make a noncanonical movie AND show that represents these tropes!! AND THEY ARE AWFUL- and I haven't and will never lay my eyes upon that garbage. The OG movie is where it's at

It's basically a metaphor for westward expansion, nature vs humanity, war, ugh so much. It's all so understated and subtle to kids, but as I git older I was like "wow, this is very nuanced and interesting for a kids horse movie I used to be obsessed with"😂 I still love this movie, it holds up!

@@MyNameisCameron please don't. I never saw it, but I know it pales in comparison to this film. It's not even a true sequel, as it's just a film that's somewhat based on the TV show. The Spirit horse in that show isn't even the same horse from this film. I'd keep that lame excuse for a sequel deep in the back of your mind. Let it stay there.
