That’s pretty much my list, however I swap “The Croods” with “Rise of the Guardians”. “Rise” is a heartwarming and stellar piece of animation with familiar childhood icons given a refreshing and dramatic interpretation. A triumph of imagination and a celebration of the power of belief it is my most underrated DreamWorks film. 👍👍

Hopefully things will get a little bit brighter in the era to come "The Age of Restoration" when Comcast had announced that they had acquired DreamWorks Animation for $3.8 billion on April 28, 2016 and giving complete ownership of various franchise including SHReK, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How To Train Your Dragon, The Croods and eventually Trolls and The Boss Baby. And in 2019 came the release of DreamWorks Animation first feature film distributed by Universal Pictures the film is title "How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World".

I can’t decide if How to Train Your Dragon 2 or Kung Fu Panda 2 is the better movie of the lot. They’re both so good. I’d put Home and Turbo at the bottom as they’re both just so forgettable. Mr Peabody and Sherman and Rise of the Guardians are both hugely underrated, though I keep getting the latter mixed up with Legends of the Guardians (the Zack Snyder owl movie), 🤣. The other 4 are really good as well, especially The Croods.

Unlike the Flintstones where the series focuses on two couples/familys. In this film it's only focuses on one family "The Croods" but joined by a traveler, but a complication would arise in the franchise in 2020 where a new family was introduced in the franchise "The Bettermans" in the sequel "The Croods: A New Age" but you'll have to talk about in your next rankings video.

Here’s My DreamWorks Silver Age ranking (Because honestly, outside of the cancelled DreamWorks films in 2015, this era felt way memorable then the era after this, which might as well be called the Dark Age because… Boss Baby… and Trolls…). And number 1) How To Train Your Dragon 2: HTTYD2 Is probably the best film of this era simply because it improved on what HTTYD1 lacked. 1: the story isn’t cliche at times, 2: it explores more on the Dragons unlike HTTYD1 (Which i get why, because that film’s all about Hiccup & Toothless’ relationship), and 3: it had more darker moments compared to HTTYD1 (Note: I cried when Stoack died, despite him being a sterotype in HTTYD1.). Sure, its not like this film had it’s problems (I mean, the main villain’s just a generic bad guy… and the the other Dragon riders aside from Astrid are just bland.), but it’s nothing compared to the animation and lighting and story that i did like. 2) Kung Fu Panda 2: Oh boy… this movie. I think it’s a masterpiece, I just think it’s not as awesome as Kung Fu Panda 1. This is probably because the movie had a more serious tone compared to the other installments. I mean sure, I did cry when I saw Po’s origin story, and Gary Oldman did amazing for Lord Shen but I just think Shen wasn’t as funny compared to Kai or even Tai Lung (Even though he was also serious, just not too serious.), and Po’s origin felt cliched and too odd considering Po was already the Dragon Warrior, so why call him the Warrior of Black & White if he’s already the Dragon Warrior. Most of the jokes were ehh… but I felt more upset with the emotional moments as Po and Shen to an extent. Kung Fu Panda 2 is a masterpiece, but in my opinion, it’s probably my least favorite Kung Fu Panda film. 3) Mr. Peabody & Sherman: I got nothing to say. The movie has alot of heart, the story’s good, the characters are funny and likeable, there’s nothing much to say about it other then it made me cried. 4) Puss in Boots: Puss in Boots is probably my third favorite Shrek film and there’s a good reason for that. This was the most critically acclaimed Shrek movie since Shrek 2 and even though it’s a spin off, it felt more like a Shrek movie compared to the other two Shrek films before it. The story’s memorable Humpty Dumpty’s the anti-rumplestilksten (For instance Humpty actually manipulated his brother throughout his movie while Rumplestilskin’s lazy), and I find Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws’ romance adorable. Its better then Shrek 4, but its lower on the list because there’s other movies that I pefer. Still, its a better spinoff then the Penguins of Madagascar Movie, and the show was pretty good. Lets just hope the 2nd Puss in Boots movie doesn’t feel like a disappointment unlike Lightyear. 5) Turbo: Turbo’s one of the most underrated movies I’ve ever seen. It’s not Kung Fu Panda levels of awesome, but it isn’t Shark Tale levels of what the hell! Ryan Reynolds was a good casting choice for Turbo himself and I like how Samuel L Jackson isn’t trying to swear like his other movies, everything was spot on, from the realistic art style, to the cartoony elements you see in DreamWorks’ rival company Pixar. However, even though there’s the fact that some people called it a Cars ripoff, i didnt really see it as both movies have different arcs and stories (Other then the fact both films are about racing). But i did found some problems like the cliche underdog story, but thats just me. I just think Turbo Fast which was a continuation of Turbo slightly better then the original film, but for what it is Turbo is still an enjoyable ride (No pun intended.). 6) Madagascar 3 Europe’s Most Wanted: Madagascar 3’s great, it’s just no where near the levels of the first two movies. The story’s good & all, the pacing and comedic timing is excellent, I personally like the new characters including Stefino, and Captain Chantel DuBois’s probably my favorite Madagascar villain of the trilogy. However, unlike Escape 2 Africa… Europe’s Most Wanted felt too rushed and I felt like it was 5 minutes instead of an hour long film you know im sayin. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad, far from it. it was a worthy conclusion to the Madagascar Trilogy, and unlike the Penguins Of Madagascar MOVIE! It didn’t rehash some of the main plot points from the previous installments. So yeah i think Madagascar 3’s great 7) Rise of the Guardians: Or as I like to call it, Rise of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Rise of the Guardians is just ok in my opinion. Santa Claus is good, the Easter Bunny’s badass, the Tooth Fairy’s meh, and the Sandman’s alright. Jack Frost on the other hand, is just fine… he isn’t as good as Hiccup or Susan, but he’s still good. Honestly my real problem with Jack is pretty much the Jelsa shippers… they just ruin the movie for me… as for the Boogey Man, he’s ok, not Lord Shen levels of intimidation just fine. I have nothing much to say about Rise of the Guardians since I didn’t care for it unlike everyone else, but between this and Frozen, I’d rather pick this over Frozen at anytime, mainly because Frozen is just not good in my opinion. 8) Home: It’s meh. Its not terrible, just meh. I havent seen the show yet but for what the original Home film is, it just exist… 9) Penguins Of Madagascar: The Movie: Again, Im probably gonna get alot of hate for this, simply because apparently this movie’s the best Madagascar film (Unlike Escape 2 Africa which IS the Best film of the main series). I hate to disappoint you this but… The Penguins Of Madagascar MOVIE is probably one of the most disappointing movies of all time, and thats because of the TV Series this film took it’s name from (Unless you bought the blu-ray copy, where it adds “The Movie” to the title.). I love the Madagascar Franchise, and it was all thanks to the Penguins Of Madagascar TV SERIES from 2008-2013 (Yes, I said it ended in 2013, not 2015, don’t believe Wikipedia!), which I actually like and I personally pefer it and the show that preceded it (All Hail King Julien) over that crappy piece of abomination that is Madagascar: A Little Wild. Hehe… however, unlike the show where it had a perfect balance between comedy and emotional moments in some of the episodes, the Penguins Of Madagascar MOVIE was trying to be a MOVIE, which focuses on the more emotional moments, while also adding in a little bit of humor to the side (Which i think is complete & utter wasted). For the new characters Classified’s probably the only North Wind member that actually has personality (And that’s large in due to Benedict Cumberbatch’s performance), the rest are just bland and are simply just the opposites of the Penguins, with the same personalities, minus the charm. As for the Penguins Of Madagascar themselves… Kowalski’s sub plot of him trying to impress the owl was just trying to be like the relationship between him & his Dolphin ex-girlfriend in the TV Show, Rico doesn’t do anything outside of having a bad habit of eating cheese puffs, and Skipper’s the only member who I don’t find funny or interested in the most, and this is sad even from me… especially when I thought Skipper had some of the best moments in the TV Show. Private’s the only one in the team that actually has character development, as he’s basically the main character in this movie about 4 Penguins being spies. I have to admit, Private’s character arc in this was handled well, even though it’s just his character arc from the TV Show, only most of it was cut out. Dave the Octopus is just Dr. Blowhole without Neil Patrick Harris doing the voice, so yeah. The story’s a mix bag, the characters aren’t the brightest, and the comedy and emotional moments are overwhelming. Overall i just think the Penguins Of Madagascar MOVIE’s a disappointment. 10) The Croods: oh boy, Im gonna get alot of hate for this. The Croods isn’t good in my opinion, the animation has colorful backdrops but not the main characters, oh I’m sorry did I say characters? I meant a bunch of bad jokes (Except for the grandma, she’s funny.). I haven’t seen Dawn of the Croods which is a prequel to the first Croods movie, but I have seen the 2nd Croods film and honestly, compared to the 2nd film, this film’s the weakest.

Here's my ranking 1. How To Train Your Dragon 2 - It still has its charm from the first film. Easily the darkest film in the franchise. Still love this film. 2. Kung Fu Panda 2 - An improvement of the first Kung Fu Panda franchise. Everything hyped me up from start to end. Gary Oldman as Lord Shen is so intimidating, and I love it. The choreography fight hits different. Like, literally. 3. Rise Of The Guardians - A great film no doubt. It kinda sucks that this movie flopped. I still have nostalgia in this film. 4. Madagascar 3 Europe's Most Wanted - Honestly the best film in the Madagascar franchise. The film still has its humor and still an enjoyable film. 5. Penguins Of Madagascar - A good addition to the Madagascar franchise. Good thing it focuses on the Penguins. And I do like that it focuses more on Private making the other penguins realize that he is more than being cute. 6. Puss In Boots - It's a good spinoff. Glad we got to know more about Puss in this film and how he was wanted in this film. An enjoyable film not gonna lie. 7. The Croods - A fun film NGL. Focusing on the family protecting each other making Grug realize that there's more to explore than being inside a cave for so long. Overall, it's good. 8. Turbo - It's like the mixture of Cars and Ratatouille. An okay film with weird characters. But I like it. 9. Mr. Peabody and Sherman - The movie concept of time traveling is still good. But it's not much of a big impact as I thought it would be. Still love Patrick Warburton. 10. Home - Chaotic and bad. The characters are forgettable and everything is just pure chaos. And it made me thought of these words. What the hell did I just watch?

Here my rank for this era: 10: Home, never seen (?/10) 9: Turbo: This movie began the age for bad movies. (2/10) 8: Penguins of Madagascar: Not a bad movie, this is a pretty good spy movie, but some characters are not my cup of tea, and one joke on 2 works on me.(5/10) 7: Puss in Boots: That s a good movie too, I love the characters, particulary Puss and Kitty, they are a very cute couple.(6,5/10) 6: Peabody and Sherman, thats a very cool mavie, and the 3 main characters have a very good evolution. (7/10). -5: The Croods: Thats a new example of a very cool movie, I particulary love the father, he is very fun, and his evolution is very good too, but the others characters are very cool too. (7/10). 4- Madagascar 3: This is just a fan service movie, and the best between the 3! The animation style of the circus is very original, and the new characters are very cool, I particulary love Gia, she is very cute with Alex. (7,5/10). 3: Kung fu Panda 2, this movie is wonderful, like the 1st, he is perfect. But that movie is only at the 3rd place because of his villain, he is not bad, but I am not a fan of powerful birds, that s illogic for me, plus, his henchman is a wolf, just, imagine if we swap it, a very muscular wolf like Tai-Lung, with an armee of peacocks, that would have been a hell of a lot better, that s only that I think, plus, in France, the dubber is a very bad choice, he makes him ridiculous with is voice. But without that, that movie rocks. (9/10). 2- HTTYD 2: The second half of the best animated franchise of all times, all the characters were perfect, the animation is wonderful, the action is incredible, the villain is f*cking badass, and the last fight scene with the Alpha Toothless 🥰. (9,5/10). 1- Rise of the Guardians: I dont know why, because this movie intrinsically isn t the best, but I have a connection with it. And the fight scenes and the animation are just perfect, the characters too, the villain is very badass, and Rammstein make one of their best song on him. I particulary love the design of some characters, and first for Bunnymund who has a f*cking badass design, but the others too, Chrismas father with his strong Russian with swords, Jack Frost is a cute teenager, Thooth Fairy with her colors, and the more little and innofensive body, but powerful as hell Sandman. But the 2 bests are Pitch Black and Bunnymund.

Mr. Peabody and Sherman should have followed the example of its predecessor and omitted female characters altogether. The mind-blowingly horrid character of Penny would be more likely to alienate young girls than to woo them into the theater. What the h*** were they THINKING with that character? Kung Fu Panda 2 is definitely my favorite film of this era.
