I find it hysterical how Wish was originally supposed to have a villain DUO (the king and queen were supposed be villains together) and Wish also has one of the weakest Disney soundtracks of all time. Meanwhile, Dreamworks releases hecking Trolls 3 with a fun badass villain duo AND a kickass villain song "Watch Me Work" (which Im assuming is an original for the movie cause i cant seem to find anything that says its a cover) Like damn Ive seen more fanart for Velvet and Veneer than i have for all of the Wish characters combined. Best movie I’ve probably ever seen this year. (Besides Zootopia lol) It had basically what people wanted out of Disney’s Wish. A good villain duo (even more after seeing the concept art for Wish. Like, Disney, we could’ve had our first villain duo for you in Disney history.) and an incredibly good soundtrack. And a couple lol. Still super disappointed after learning that we could’ve gotten a Star Boy love interest! It would’ve been the first couple in Disney (for the protagonist) in a little less than a decade.

When i was a kid, i grew up watching both Disney/Pixar and Dreamworks and i loved watching their films as they are parts of my childhood. I'm one of the kids who lived during Disney Revival Era as one of the firsts films (probably the first one) i watched in theaters was Princess and the Frog. After that i watched other films (Tangled, Wreck it Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Moana). About the recent Disney films like Raya, Encanto and Strange World, i found them ok and i found it sad that Disney receive so much hate for good and bad reasons. About Pixar and Dreamworks, I love them equally. But everytime they focus on Disney hate, they include undersevedly Pixar in the hate and they use Dreamworks including Illumination against it, which make me angry. I bet in alternative reality where if Disney bought Dreamworks instead of Pixar, then they would hate Dreamworks instead of Pixar just because its part of Disney. That's why i hate Disney vs Dreamworks edits since Strange World bombing and Puss in Boots 2 succeeding and then Disney vs Dreamworks/Illumination since Super Mario Bros grossed 1 billion and now Disney vs Dreamworks/Illumination/Sony since Spider Man ATSV. That hate made me more defending for Disney (yes i know they make very bad decisions and mediorce content). I was happy when Ruby Gillman flopped (underservedly) with my mind that they will stop editing that rivalry. But since Wish is flopping and is receiving hate for being lackluster, it seems the rivalry will continue. What i can say is that Disney/Pixar and Dreamworks have their ups and downs, and i still like all of them. I hope 2024 will be a good year for Dreamworks and Disney/Pixar (Kung Fu Panda 4, Inside Out 2, Orion and the Dark Netflix and some 2024 upcoming Disney film, probably Zootopia 2).

OK I’m gonna be on topic and off-topic. Let me start off by saying this first I think DreamWorks wins because I feel more feel like they’re movies resonate more with their audience. They treat their audience with the maturity that is needed that they touch on heavy topics are well implemented within the story, which doesn’t break the immersion, which is why I can appreciate DreamWorks. That’s why I love Puss in boots how to train your dragon, kung fu panda because those movies are growing up with their audience. Disney for the most part I can say they kinda treat their audience like children like and then not trying anything new like anything newest they’re trying to try somehow in our part of Disney just tries to not give that movie the attention it deserves or try to hold back on that new innovative way that’s gonna be risky and Disney does not take a risk and that’s the problem. ChillyChivy i’m not so sure that you heard of this, but Disney Pixar movies soul,Luca and turning red are going to be heading to theaters. I just wanted to know your thoughts on it and thought I am not too sure about it. I feel like the movie might get overshadowed by the newer movies that come out.

I think partly the reason why wish failed was not to do with plot, although that too. When I saw the trailer, I really didn't get what it was about. Typically with these princess movies, it's based off of something. So like Snow White and the seven dwares was based off of Snow White and seven dwarfs. I didn't really get the concept of this film from the trailers, so I was disinterested. Now that I've gotten more information about the concept, I think I would have gone and seen it. But I also got that concept from people reviewing it, and giving it a bad review. So definitely not anymore but with that being said, I think the trailer is should have emphasized what the movie was about. Maybe just play the opening number, as that should be the song that explains what the concept is.

I absolutely love dreamworks and disney. All of their past movies have been great and i think people kinda forget what they are capable of and when one bad project comes out they stick their nose up to the new stuff and nit pick every little thing about it. When i went to go see Encanto after Raya the Last dragon came out, there was no one in that theater, but as soon as it hit disney plus, it was the most popular movie on the internet. Its like as soon as people here the word Disney now, they think is going to be bad, which makes no sense to me. I go and see a movie no matter what the last one from the studio was like because both of them have made some pretty amazing stuff. Its just like marvel, just because Spiderman was good, then Mobius is bad, doesn't mean the next movie will be. Personally as an artist, the animation of Wish looks better than Frozen II. Yes, i wish it would have been 2d, maybe like Klaus, but it definitely doesnt look cheap. I know what unrendered models look like and those have been rendered (referring to how someone said they still looked like they were in the modeling process). As for the marketing for all of these, they all kept popping up everywhere i looked. The thing about ruby Gillman that didn't really sell me is that they spoiled the villain in the trailer, when its supposed to be a twist. thats why i try not to watch the trailers anymore, thats also why i like disney's trailers because they dont give much of the plot, just the world of the story. I really look forward to watching Wish and trolls 3 and then inside out 2, kung fu panda 4, and elio because i know they will be great.

I can't give an opinion on Ruby Gillman and Wish since I haven't seen them (don't intend to), but out of Elemental and Trolls Band Together I would choose Elemental. Yes! It did feel like a Pixar movie. Couldn't agree with you more on that statement. I thought the movie was so deep and the visuals, of course, were absolutely beautiful. Thomas Newman's score was amazing! I loved it. Trolls Band Together was a good movie. It was very entertaining, I liked the plot, and I agree was better than its predessecors. Good for DreamWorks on achieving this. However IMO it doesn't come close to surpassing Elemental.

Bingo. I myself loved Elemental, it’s my favorite Disney / Pixar film in years. It’s heart, humor, and themes were so well done. I can’t remember the last time I’ve rewatched an animated film as much as I have that one. Between seeing it twice in the theater and many times on digital (I have the Blu Ray too). I’m also elated that it eventually became successful at the box office, which is especially nice for an original.

@@RYMAN1321 Yes! Thank you. Someone else who appreciates this film. Luca I felt was the last Pixar movie that was good, and that was about 3 years ago. So imagine how hyped I was to see Pixar releasing a film that actually looked good, and then make it into my Pixar top 10. Saw it 3 times in theaters, Lol😂. You have my respect.

I feel like it’s a tie between Disney and Dreamworks this year because they both had one success and one flop for this year. Now if we look at the box office I say Disney won because for the successes that Disney and Dreamworks had, Elemental made $495,947,021 million dollars while Trolls band together made $163,599,652 million dollars. For the flops that they both had, Ruby Gillman teenage kraken made $4.61 million dollars while WISH made $98.3 million dollars ( read an article about it just now).

When you think about it, it's so funny that disney who's known to do amazing songs that stick in your head for decades, made one of the worst disney villain song ever this year, while dreamworks released a far better soundtrack the same month that I actually listen to on repeat since trolls 3 came out (and "watch me work" is such an amazing villain song for the irony of the lyrics while also going so hard instrumentally, while the wish villain song has some terrible lines and is completely forgetable). The fact that the Trolls franchise, of all franchises, took the W on disney this year is hilarious to me
@stephlvrd11 ай бұрын
I think that Dreamworks really has an upper hand because even though Disney is “technically” doing better, movies like Wish and Lightyear are really tarnishing their reputation. If dreamworks makes a mediocre movie, people say “well it’s dreamworks.” But when Disney does (and is currently doing) people lose respect for the company, and the fact that Disney+ keeps putting put bad show after bad show, people are starting to DISLIKE disney as a whole.

It's always fun to sing them, puts me in a good mood. Magnifico's song would be perfect in a Tiktok musical, not Disney's celebration for their 100th year. I saw the movie 3 days ago and remember one lyric; '' What's the prob? '' and... that's it. In short, compare to previous villains song; his is meh 😐

All Trolls 3 has to do is break even and Dreamworks wins, and by a lot. Disney's biggest problem is just how much they are spending to make these movies. As good as Elemental was, it still lost money by a thin margin, but I hear Wish has to make something like around 650 to 800 Million just to break even.

I actually Dreamwork Ruby Gilman teenage Kraken I thought, making a Kraken the hero and the mermaid the villain with pretty unique Love and Kaiju fight, They has this Generational Trauma like strange world, and Chosen one syndrome, like DreamWorks rise of the guardians. The villain is pretty cliché and With a preferred Chelsea and Ruby at friends, actual friends instead of enemies Narissa as Villain! This movie would’ve worked in the 2010!

i’m still baffled by early reviews of trolls 3. there are a lot of videos on this very site heavily bashing it, which is odd because it’s so much better than the other two movies. its a little standard, yeah, but it plays with its theme of family really well and the villains are hilarious. i genuinely can’t help but feel like some critics were blinded by how little they liked the first two movies and couldn’t see the marked improvement right in front of them

I know that not everyone likes Ruby Gillman, but I'm just so happy to finally see another mermaid/ocean movie. It's been so long and the last time I saw a movie like it was Luca from Pixar. It was predictable yes, but I like the concept and the art style. Overall though, I think Dreamworks is beginning to outdo Disney. Disney seems to have an issue with throwing away their audience now, preferring to listen to ESG scores instead of what works. Everytime I see a new Disney movie coming out, I noticed that no one where I live wants to see it, people line up for other movies, skipping whatever Disney just put out. In short, Dreamworks is building a bigger audience while Disney seems to be losing everyone. Because of this, I'd say Dreamworks is definitely winning big time. Without an audience and a bad reputation, how is a company going to survive?

I was never really into the franchise (I six when the first movie came out so, go figure 😂) but I did like it. I still shy away from watching the first movie because I kinda cringe when I see it (a lil bit, not too much) and the second movie is good, and the third… I can write an entire essay on it but I loved it.
@firecrakerj3312 Жыл бұрын
I’m actually surprised that the comments here are being mature. While I think Disney probably peaked after Zootopia, stuff like Turning Red, Encanto, Elemental and even Once Upon a Studio shows that Disney may be down but they are definitely not out. Even Wish was decent if just overhated. As for Dreamworks, for every good movie they make, there’s five bad or mid ones, so Dreamworks ain’t that perfect either. Bad Guys was great, Last Wish was brilliant and if Trolls 3 didn’t have Amy Schumer in it, I’d consider it decent. But we all know the true winner here is Sony because they made the Spiderverse movies and those are by definition, a work of art.
