Dreamworld Australia 2019 REVIEW & OVERVIEW

I've been to Dreamworld many, many times over the years and have been on many of the original rides such as Mine Mountain (a rollercoaster inside a mine shaft), the Tunderbolt (an original style double-loop rollercoaster), Gravatron (a spinning ride that you stick to the wall, plus HEAPS more that are no longer there. It saddens me to say, that as much as I love Dreamworld I feel that it's time for the park to be purchased by someone serious about operating it. Shut down for 12 months to revamp, spend some money and open a brand new modern theme park. The Gold Coast deserve it :-)

I actually agree. Dreamworld will always hold a special place in my heart and I will visit as often as I can, but the last two times I’ve visited SEQ, I chose MovieWorld instead. Dreamworld needs a major overhaul and revamp. It needs a cleanup and a way to remain viable in the public eye. As stated in the video it needs more entertainment. I would love to see the nostalgia come back. Captain Sturts paddle steamer and the bushranger show, Kenny and Belinda Koala, games the fun. It’s great park it just needs...something to bring it back to what it once was. And I hope Tower Of Terror returns, it’s my favourite ride there.

Great video. It’s good to see someone defend the park while criticising it in the areas that we all know it needs some TLC. I like you to presented the family attractions. This is indeed something that is often overlooked. The park has had its troubles. But given time things can always improve and they will. I always find the staff here to be of the highest quality. It would have been good for some guest if you mentioned about the small yet appetising buffet on sight near wiggles world. Terrific job all round boys.

I’m from the US and I did go to this park while I went to Australia last year. I had a lot of fun and laughs while I was there with my down undersports cross country teammates. I was supposed to go back this year but it cancelled. While I was at dreamworld I met my dream girl. I do hope I come back in the future and see what changes.

Another great video as always Luke. After the tragedy of 2016 the park was always going to struggle to win back the trust of the public and get back to the normal size crowds it enjoyed for so long. It definitely needs a few more big extreme rides, just look at what DC Rivals has done for MovieWorld down the road. But without the crowds attending spending so much would be a big risk, but without new thrill rides the crowds won’t come, so it’s the proverbial double edge sword. Since 2016 I wondered whether Ardent Leisure ( Dreamworld’s owners ) should sell to someone willing to spend a lot of money and have it rebranded? Apparently it sits on 85 hectares (210 acres) so is a pretty good size. While I would LOVE to see a Disney here, I don’t think it would be practical for them for such a population spread over such a big distance. Maybe a Cedar Point though? Maybe two other options could be Merlin Entertainments (who own a few parks throughout Europe) or an Asian Parks owner which would then also help further increase tourism to the area. I doubt Village Roadshow would want to buy it but who knows? Owning all four parks on the GC might be tempting to them :)

Personally Movie World is way better. These are both my home parks so I’m pretty familiar with them. After the incident and wipeouts removal it really lost its atmosphere and feeling of actually being in a dream world

I used to go to Dreamworld yearly. Used to. The park was getting so poorly run and themed and this was still years before the rapids disaster. The park was just on a downward trajectory of decaying rides and absolutely no plan for the future. Even when they finally decide to invest in something like Sky Voyager they can't even deliver that.

I went there 1 weeks ago and the tower of terror has was closed it has offcially closed and I really wanted to ride it since I have never rode it. It looked like loads of fun but disappointing that it was one of the main attractions at dreamworld.

To create much needed attendance, I would transform Dreamworld into a fully zoo-themed Park. If movie world has the top coasters, dreamworld can have the top experiences. They could expand on the animal area and easily Retheme some rides.

Adoption Bayview that's exactly what I want to see, I want to see MovieWorld go out of business or better yet Village roadshows go out of business, DreamWorld may have been going downhill but that's because everytime they tried to get back up, something would happen and push them back down again. it's time for DreamWorld to take number 1 theme park again, they are the king, they are the best and biggest theme park in my opinion.

smasher I really think that dreamworld should have top rides again because it’s the most family friendly theme park, village road show should be based more about memorabilia, maybe just a few small rides, and lots of themed food, parades, and more. Paradise country should add some more fun additions to it so more people want to visit so it can be based more about the animals on land, and sea world should maybe add some water rides/water slides to embrace the water animal side to them!

The major problem the Australia theme parks - the return visit value is low, especially for overseas tourists. There is little "WOW" factor. The subdue environment didn't help either. Maybe Australia just didn't have the critical mass as compare to US and Japan. Probably part of the reason, the owner hesitate to invest big money on new rides.

Not gonna lie, I went to Queensland in February this year and went to Sea World, Movie World and Wet 'N' Wild. I went back to SeaWorld and MovieWorld twice. Given, I didn't go twice because there was too much to do, but rather really enjoyed the rides they had and wanted to go on them again. There's at least some return value in that, but I agree that they could take an extra step up and example from the parks overseas.

At the time that my family went there, the vintage cars were closed. And we didn’t realise we went after the log ride accident, so that was closed too :( but overall it was a pretty good park. edit: I have just realised that the tower of terror 2 has closed down, that was one of the family favourites ;( Rest In Peace TOT2.

Im going to dreamworld on the school holidays. To anyone who has been there in 2019 should I go there I probably spend most of the time in the waterslide area but is the rides good (I won’t go on any upside one though) but the ones that don’t inversions are they good?

One of the best parts about Dreamworld is that the waterpark is included in your ticket and you can back and forth between the two parks freely through the day. Definitely pack your swimmers and then see where the day takes you! - Luke

i don’t think dreamworld is a great themepark especially the claw ride. Once when i went on the claw ride when we were spinning my seatbelt came off and that also made my harness get really loose the person next to me had to put his arm over my harness and hold me in. When we got out we told the worker of the ride that the seat i was sitting in was broken. She said yeah i saw it and i was laughing. I will never go back to dreamworld for the way that they do not care about people’s safety. AND THE WORST PART IS THAT THIS WAS THE DAY THE PARK REOPENED AFTER THE ACCIDENT.

Dear god what. I hope there was a staff turnover since then, considering this review praises them so highly. I attended Dreamworld back in 2005 when I was 10 years old and absolutely loved it. It had enough vibe and energy to rival MovieWorld... Now it looks to have just fallen to shambles with struggling finances and low visitor interest. Such a sad journey the park has been through. It also feels weird to think that I went on that River Rapid ride when I visited. I absolutely loved it...To know that people died on that was a big shock.

I went in February to the parks. After comparing the maps online, I chose to skip DreamWorld and went to SeaWorld, MovieWorld + Wet 'N' Wild. Dreamworld is more so a park that could be classified as 'better' if you have small children to entertain; but if you're a bit on the older side, then I would recommend SeaWorld 100%. Not to mention they have a bit of a better record when it comes to ride safety... I also want to mention my brother went to the parks shortly after I did, but he had DreamWorld on his list. He was apparently super bored, many rides were closed, and there was barely anything to poke a stick at. I think this video glorifies it a lot more than the reality.
