Unlike space, deep ocean pressure makes it incredibly dangerous to go there. Imagine a giant constantly trying to crush a can, and you have an idea of what submarines go through down there. Space is literally safer than the abyss. If the hull is breached, which can be caused by a slight bump against a wall due to the existing giant pressure, the entire submarine will implode.

Pretty sure the entire ocean floor has been mapped. Its just not everything in the water has been cataloged, much like everything on land hasn't been cataloged.
