Hell yes. This is how I try for Mako when I visit my dad in Southern California. Just drop it onto an angry prespawner. I’m not very successful, haha.

for vertical fishing i take beside my fly fishing gear my spinning gear with me, this is much more usable

Depending on the conditions. Sometimes both. We ran out of heavy jigs flies after our first hour and we had to retreat to lead shots with normal GT flies. It was brutal.
