My local wood carving group use the Stanley vice - it's about £20 and works great, but that does look the business and solves the need for a third arm - every woodworker needs one of those (even just for some spare fingers when using a router or table saw)!

I've been trying to find out what kind of weight limit this vice has but no one can seem to answer that. I wanted to get one for certain projects but I wanted to make sure it can hold the weight limit of like a rifle or something of that nature
