This actually happened in real life here in Florida, a deputy from Okaloosa County named Jesse Hernandez mistook the sound of an acorn striking the hood of his police car for a gun shot and opened fire on his own vehicle while the suspect named Marquis Jackson was handcuffed inside.

4:17 Police were responding to a call about a boyfriend, threatening to kill his girlfriend a police car shows up inside contains one male and one female both of them later eventually find the boyfriend, search him and place them in handcuffs and put him inside of their car later on the male officer goes on the side of his car presumably going to the trunk where he hears a noise gets on the ground start saying “I’m hit” pull his gun out and starts shooting in the back of his car where the handcuffed man is, his female officer notices what was happening. Pulls her gun out and starts firing in the back of the car where the handcuff man is. When back up showed up the male officer claims he was hit by a gunshot but he doesn’t know where he was hit. police then search the back of the cop car, and luckily the handcuffed man was not harmed Afterwards, the male police officer resigned from the PD. The PD did a review on him and the male officer stated that he thought he heard a muffled gunshot, which is why he decided to shoot at him, but that wasn’t the case it turns out it was just an acorn that fell on top of his car. News sources found out that the male officer has served two trips in the Middle East while he was in the military so theory was that he probably had a PTSD episode.
