Thank you for the instruction on how to clean the back of this fan - there is zero instruction from Dreo on how to get in the back of this model specifically. Much appreciated.

Very nice and in depth review. Most other channels show just how the product works, but here we get to see the service point of view as well :) Especially after ten - fifteen years, those plastic clips will break very easily.

I like those impeller fans, they move much more air than bladed fans.
@12voltvids2 жыл бұрын
That's because they have bigger blades and mite if them. Like a furnace blower fan.

An Oreo fan would be much more interesting.

*Love the size and it fits perfectly in a corner but **Fastly.Cool** the whole room. Really like how you can auto adjust how long you want the fan to be on. It is quite but highly effective.*

I have the same fan and found your video. I too can now clean this fan properly now. Thanks!

I like it. Might buy one. it's starting to get hot where I live. I prefer tower fans to save space. Thank you Dave for another great video.

Still using my 42 year old Sanyo fan. Just needs a few drops of oil in the motors bearing each year or two these days.

I've got a 50's table top fan and a big heavy 20 inch 3 bladed Lakewood box fan from the early 70's. They'll never die!

Mine still going strong. Use it in bedroom. Having the timer feature is great so it doesn't run all night. Whisper quiet too.

How can I remove the red screw? The fan got knocked over and the base came undone and I’m trying to undo the screw but it’s stuck 😭 the base doesn’t fit over or under the the red screw not sure what to do

I watched you take that grill off..yet here I am with an insane squeak in the Dreo..and will not dare to take that grill off..a screw is easily removed, but those plastic clips..scary breakable.
@12voltvids Жыл бұрын
They didn't break and the fan works great. Used it all summer last year and have it ready for the warm season again. Have it on master bedroom. Whisper quiet at night.

@@12voltvids Yes I have read many reviews on this one..I am not the only customer with the loud squealing noise. The other two I have are extremely quiet. I would think some WD would fix the squeak but to take that grill of I dunno I am afraid

I remember a hair dryer my sister had it was that style impeller squirrel cage fan, (if that's the correct name LOL) (seems more like a mice wheel than a squirrel wheel), anyway as a VERY young kid about 4 or 5 years old it baffled me the two sides 90° angle one drawed the air in while the other blow a massive amount of air out. Whole house air circulators have that style of fan (as far as I've ever seen anyway) the draw air in the center on one or both sides, so that side air inlet on the hair dryer just didn't makes sense to my 4 or 5 year old mind i knew "box fan blades" I mean the 3 metal blade kind, those older box fans moved some air like most smaller "high velocity" air movers. Box fans today are plastic blades and hardly move any air on the high setting from my memory as a kid compared to the box fans of old. The one I remember had a metal grill held in place by two hooks and spring loaded hinge type on the top for easy cleaning removal. A huge knob for off and speed control (H, M and L) a very powerful motor too. You put it on high speed and it was at speed in less than 3 seconds, remember this is all metal blades too.

Very nice video sir! I'm definitely gonna clean it like you showed. For longevity purposes, would it be better to make it run on a lower setting or is it perfectly fine to use the higher settings a lot?

I've been using 12 and 8 a fair bit lately.

Plastic clips should be illegal by law. It is unnecessary. There are screws. Why even bother with clips?

Precisely..cheap and break so easily.

It's your greatest fan... o.k it's a crap joke :-D Looks well made and won't fall apart ever lol. Fans are great until you dare to walk slightly away from it, then you feel the heat even worse. I suppose air conditioning is the best way, but that's not cheap.
@12voltvids2 жыл бұрын
Yes i know. Last summer hurt when the AC electric bill came through.
@SeanBZA2 жыл бұрын
@@12voltvids Well, that fan uses the motor and drum fan off an AC unit, and likely also the rotation uses the same swing motors as well. They do last well, only thing is the bush on the fan needs a drop of oil applied to it, because from the factory they do not get much, and after a year or three running they get very worn and rattle. Drop of light oil when new and you never worry about it again, so long as the drop gets there every time you clean it. From the look of the motor Daiken made the motors, those are pretty good, and have reasonably good bearings in them as well.
@12voltvids2 жыл бұрын
@@SeanBZA well it will get plenty of use. Even though I do have Central AC, what a lot of people don't realize is that you still need interior fans to move that conditioned air around otherwise the cold air tends to sit near the floor and the hot air near the ceiling. So even with AC it's a good idea to have a few fans just to circulate the air. I put one for example at the top of my stairs to blow the warm air that collects upstairs down. Well my house was built the AC people put the thermostat and what they thought would be a great area, the problem is as the kids got older they wanted to keep their bedroom doors closed all the time and trap the air in their room and that created a dead zone in the hallway so that dead zone was always warm because it's upstairs which would mean the AC would run constantly and we would freeze downstairs. Well now that one has moved out her room is vacant we can leave the door open and throw a fan in the doorway to circulate the air around it made the AC work a lot better last summer. Now I'm a big believer in having multiple fans running when using air conditioning as the whole system just becomes that much more efficient.

Beware, most warranty claims on new items require the owner to pay shipping cost both ways to get the item repaired or replaced. This usually costs more than buying a new item, so the owner declines to have it repaired. That is how they can afford to offer such a warranty. The only good warranty is one where the consumer has no cost whatsoever. in most cases it is a marketing gimmick.
@SeanBZA2 жыл бұрын
Yes you pay the shipping there, and they then simply scrap it, charge you the fee for that, and send you a voucher to use to buy another one.
@12voltvids2 жыл бұрын
@@SeanBZA last time I had something break i called the manufacture. Gave the serial number and replacement parts were sent out free if charge. That was about 3 weeks ago for my shuttle pro edit controller. Fucking buttons keep breaking. Time before that was a Blu-ray player that wouldn't read 1 in 3 disks. I called manufacture. They asked for a video demonstrating the fault. I sent it to them and they sent me a new one free and told me to recycle the old.

This fan was designed as a throwaway impossible to service The motor and the servo control board will fail after the warranty expires. Hold onto your old box fan with metal blades. They last a lifetime. This Chinese junk will fail less than a year
