I remember as a child I've never had problems with dairy, gluten or anything really, no allergies whatsoever. Then, a few years ago, I began to have digestive issues, now literally everything makes me feel bloated, I developed GERD, IBS, an enlarged liver (even though I am skinny and never drink) etc. Additionally, I also got hand eczema, which refuses to heal no matter what I do. Eczema is slowly starting to appear on my face as well. I've been thinking a lot about these things, and why I did not have any problems with food or my digestion as a kid. I came to the conclusion that all these big companies must inject food items with god knows what and that is what we have an allergic reaction to. That is what our stomach cannot handle. I understand that there are people with real allergies, who would die if they ate foods containing peanuts for example, but food intolerances...I swear it is because our bodies cannot tolerate all these perservatives, colorings and whatever else they put in food that is not even indicated on the label.

Eat fresh fruit and vegetables - cooked or uncooked, whichever is possible for you. 3. Use ghee, butter in moderation, butdo use them. 4. Moderate amount of soaked nuts and seeds are good. 5. Do not get into knowing chemical names like maltodextrin etc... Just avoid processed foods as much as possible including cookies, biscuits. Make them at home if you want it. 6. Go to a doctor if any severe acute issue or you have tried some home remedies for at least a day or two. 7. Hydrate youself with at least 6 to 8 glasses of water daily

There is absolutely no need to peddle fear, uncertainty, and doubt. These are things that if consumed in excess, can damage your liver over time. To say or put ruin in all caps on your thumbnail can aggravate and annoy anyone. If it is something we need to be aware of, or be cognizant of so that we can make better decisions and choices, then please communicate that. My body started rejecting foods big time 10 years ago. The result was years of constant hospitalisation after consuming foods I had eaten all my life. Healthy 'normal' foods. There is a point to this story, which is: After years of sickness, I have narrowed down the foods my body can tolerate. Those foods turned out to be foods my ancestors ate. To my dismay my diet now consists mostly of root vegetables, seafood, chicken and very limited red meat and some leafy greens (no dairy,no soy, no wheat, no gluten, no corn, limited starches, no sodas or cordials, no alcohol, no coffee and no manufactured sugars no animal fats, no seeds, limited nuts only macadamia and peacan. The plethora of 'healthy' (and unhealthy) foods from across the globe available to me, ultimately made me sick. Upon reflection, it makes sense that like many things we inherit, our gut-health is one of them. We should take it seriously and not ignore children's dislikes of foods. Had my parents been aware of intolerances not just allergies, I would have been able to feel this healthy all my life. These days everyone is aware of food intolerances, so if it feels bad don't eat it again. A big one is alcohol. My body simply can't tolerate it. So, I don't care how socially unacceptable it is not to drink (and boy does the pressure get applied) if it gives you skin redness, or the sniffles, or red watering eyes, or makes your stomach ache, please give it away, your body is begging you quietly. If you ignore all the subtle signs the toxins will build up and you'll find yourself in hospital, with a mild intolerance that has turned into a toxic overload on your liver, kidneys, pancreas, lymph system and brain. I wish someone had told me this years ago. I hope this helps someone out there. Or their kids or anyone. Listen to the subtle signs and avoid my mistakes.

My ALT was 600 and AST around 100. I was terrified. The ultrasound showed a completely healthy liver, and after a long conversation with the gastroenterologist about my diet, he determined that a protein shake (pea and rice vegan protein) could be the cause. After stopping the consumption of the protein shake, the values returned to normal. I still can't believe that such a seemingly innocuous food supplement that is touted as a healthy source of protein could do such harm. Later, I found out that many people who regularly go to the gym and take protein shakes every day before each blood test take a ten-day break precisely because of liver enzymes. Since then, I look for sources of protein exclusively in food.

I would be hesitant in saying whey protein powder causes liver inflammation. The study used in the rats shows a major of confounding biases in the fact that the rats that were given long term protein had a increase in body weight over 25% in 4 weeks, their initial weight going from a mean of 173.85 grams to 227.64 grams. That's like some who is 200lbs going to 250lbs in 4 weeks. There will be an increase in inflammatory markers for anyone that gains weight that quick. Plus the rats were not exercising which is what a majority of people using whey protein do, they loose weight instead of gain weight like this study. There is a recent study from 2020 called Effect of Whey Protein Supplementation on Inflammatory and Antioxidant Markers, and Clinical Prognosis in Acute Ischemic Stroke (TNS Trial): A Randomized, Double Blind, Controlled, Clinical Trial In this study, humans are given 20grams of whey protein after an Ischemic Stroke over 3 weeks. It showed inflammatory markers actually went down after the 3 weeks. I'm sure there is a lot of good information in these videos but I would recommend anyone who wants to learn more about specific issues to google and look up information themselves to make a better informed choice. There are a lot of garbage protein powders out there full of sugars, but there are a lot that are good high quality protein that me and many people I know have been using for years. I think what perplexes people when it comes to keto is fast food is not your major source for sustenance. People love the drive thru and food courts of the world. It's convenient, cheap and let's face it, it taste good. When you eliminate that and sugar from your diet, the healing will begin. It's a mindset that most people won't adapt to unless their health is in danger but at that point, it might be too late. I'm no angel either, this took me a few tries before I got on board. Dr Berg, you are amazing!!!! Your videos are so informative! I've not watched them for a while but recently I've started again and I've learnt so much; you've confirmed so many things on my mind! you have such a calming, interesting and knowledgeable "voice". Doctors SHOULD learn from you! I had fatty liver - which is under control and, hopefully, getting back to normal! (my AST and ALT readings are back to normal - I hope that's a good indicator 🤔). I have no liver disease symptoms. I saw a nutritionist last year in November for pre diabetic blood sugar levels. I've lost 9 kgs, morning bloods are about 5.4 from 6.5, and lost 11.5 cms around my waist!! Thank you so much for your amazing videos! regards and best wishes to you! I've lost 8

Thank you for mentioning aflatoxins. A family member ate peanuts as a primary snack source for several years (after being diagnosed with diabetes), since it’s a cheap source of protein and low in sugar. The result was terminal liver cancer. 😢The doctor thought it was probably the aflatoxins from the peanuts. (I’ve heard that pasteurized peanuts butters are okay but it’s a good idea to be cautious).

Wow! Thank you, Doc. for this very informative video. I just recently started drinking Glucerna not because I'm diabetic but because it is marketed as a healthy meal alternative or snack. I took a peek at the list of ingredients, and there they are: MILK PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, CANOLA OIL, FRUCTOSE, CORN MALTODEXTRIN, SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, CORN OIL, and SOY FIBER. Just to name a few of the ingredients. Now, diabetics, it's time for you to STOP consuming this supposedly HEALTHY DRINK. IT'S leading you to your grave.

She’s gradually seen a slimmer guy, she decided to approach him and thought she’d be encouraging him to keep it up….he says “ do you have KZbin? ….check Dr Berg and you’ll see why EVERYONE can do this!” And here I’ve been for the last month sending her all videos, helping her to see why a clean diet will reset her biome to be healthy and in working condition and have her life back?
