The horse is a « resort ». who can teach this « haunches » so active, the neck the most high, the front always forward the vertical. I am grateful so see this couple horse and rider so in lively harmony (the tail is exited, yes, but this horse is not bored but keen and proud of itself... into my eyes and feelings. The hands of the rider never leaving their place, neither the feet and spurs. Terrific art and passion

And stiff like a board!

@@2002ambi True, because the French horse ridiing school derived from Baucher is not good, like the natural classic German, which can be seen in this video, when the whole stiff horse in its back and poll defends itself, beats its tail all the time, shakes its head on a longer rein, etc. ..

I agree. Just because something is old doesn't mean it's classical or correct.

If you find the chewing mouth and tail swishing distracting, that is because you are not used to seeing horses having the freedom to do so. That is the price of having a horse with his language still intact. That is why it is important to have the neck high and nose ahead of the vertical, loose noseband, steady hands, so that the horse can actually speak. If there is a mild discomfort, they tell you. This horse wants to go and finds the movements too restrictive and is able to tell so. This is precisely why dressage was considered an art and never ending process of an improvement. To strike the balance between enthusiastic go of the horse with highly restrictive commands was difficult. Today, we take away the horses' freedom to says anything and the only time wee see them breaking down is when they actually explode in the dressage ring or bleed or turn blue. Even a cow can passage if you rollkur her. Tail swishing? Try move your back when you tie your chin to the chest - good luck.

This very much looks to be a Thoroughbred horse with more talent for extending than collecting. It is so interesting to see how he uses his body to collect; he elevates his forehand to redistribute his weight to the hind quarters, rather than using the hind quarters to elevate the forehand. I find the incessant tail swishing distracting, and I wonder what the horse is saying as he wrings his tail.

Probably he's saying, "quit with the spurs".
