Caroline Chew was eliminated during the Olympics in Tokyo for blood. With an abundance of fluff to cover it up she failed to fool the judges. Caroline Chew was once again eliminated from the Grand Prix dressage test in Wellington Florida at the Global Dressage Festival.

What concerns me here is a bigger issue: not only these very obvious problems like blood in the mouth, but the general ´decay´ of classical dressage at the international and even the Olympic level. You see riders jabbing their spurs into the horse´s flanks, riders with high hands (breaking the straight line from elbow to mouth of the horse), riders giving aids that are obviously exaggerated and also very inelegant, at worst horses that refuse to go into the arena ... and the judges do not reflect this in their marks?? What are these judges looking at?

His whole carriage is “help me” She spurs excessively on one side and the horse only slobbers on one side of its mouth. He looks sore somewhere and slightly unsound before the blood. When did dressage stop being about harmony?

I legitimately do not understand how bit-blood incidents are common. I genuinely would like to understand how it can happen, especially to a rider/horse combo multiple times. Is it that she has the wrong size or shape of curb/snaffle combo for that horse's mouth shape? Is he biting his tongue/cheek, and if so, why? Like, let's get to the root of the matter here.
@sarahwagland1559

I see a horse reluctant/unable to maintain straightness because it's uncomfortable somewhere which is creating tension and anxiety manifesting in a restless mouth. It stands to reason that constant movement and the pressure of the bits is going to result in some sort of damage occurring in the mouth.
@amberblyledge7859
@amberblyledge7859 Жыл бұрын
Accidental bites to lips can happen. Especially in warm bloods. Their lips and tongues are too big for their mouths and the huge bit, double bridle, and/or rider tugging plus how they crank their nose down can cause nicks. This, however, is not a simple accidental nick.
@petrairene
@petrairene Жыл бұрын
@@amberblyledge7859 warmbloods definitely have normal sized lips and tongues. What you are claiming is total bullshit. And, on the mucous membrane even tiny nicks bleed quite badly.

definetly. there can be many reasons for blood in the mouth, sometimes shit happens and other times theres an underlying issue. The horse was quite buisy in the mouth the whole test and didnt seem too happy with the bit and/or contact... its definetly concerning that it happened twice. 11 years of riding (though not at high levels) and this has never happened to me or anyone around me...

The horse in trotting moves seems terrible. In robot mode, not in Harmony with his movements. The constant chewing is very visible, this horse is not well. When they gonna add bitless in dressage? We already have in Show Jumping.

@@tropicaoptica Bits are fine when using them corretly, BUT they should allow bitless in dressage as well. Doing dressage with a horse bitless requires a very good horsemanship, which many so called professionals lack off.
@Aimee0206
@Aimee0206 Жыл бұрын
I definitely agree that they should allow for bitless options, as well as more types of bits. Some horses work better in bits, some work better in bitless, some work better in certain bits more than others, it's never a 'one size fits all' situation so I've never liked how double bits are mandatory for high level dressage

Goes to show if something's wrong whether you know it or not, your horse is going to out you. The lack of self diagnosis is concerning here. Either she has diagnosed the problem and doesn't know or doesn't care? Both are issues 💅🏻

Klimke himself always said that the freestyle would be the death of dressage . As a purist I always prefer to watch the Grand Prix and the Special . Double canter pirouettes and piaffe pirouettes are an unnecessary addition , as seen in freestyles .

Nose always in front of the vertical. Thanks for sharing this information. Dressage lost its luster for me, when the nose was cranked in.

True collection has nothing to do with the position of the horse's nose - exactly the opposite. Collection starts as the horse brings his hind quarters further beneath allowing for more engagement of the rear legs. But this requires patient development of strength and balance over years. And the judging no longer seems to reward soft, round backs. If it looks flashy, it scores.

Between dropping significant tests of correct training in the tests and turning classical equitation into a Hollywood productions for entertainment purposes, his prediction of "the death of dressage" was spot on. Herr von Neindorff said the same thing at about the same time. The start of the decline: when the IOC changed the rules for all of the sports from limited to amateurs to professionals. Changed breeding and equitation nearly overnight and results are what we have been seeing in competition arenas for two generations.
