She Hasn't Eaten in 16 Years (No Food, No Water)

This story is crazy. I traveled to a rural village in Ethiopia to track down a woman, named Muluwork, who claims to have not eaten in 16 years. Not a single piece of food or a sip or water. And on top of that, she doesn’t use the bathroom!!! After spending a few days observing her fascinating life and interviewing dozens of her neighbors, friends, and family members - I must admit that her story is pretty convincing.

I was not convinced until I spent 2 days with her, interviewed everyone that I could find in her village, and heard about her doctor visits in Dubai. If she's not in a North Korean or Chinese dictatorship with closed-circuit TV cameras on her all the time, we can't prove that she was NOT eating. The video said something about her getting glucose during pregnancy from doctors. I'm not sure if injected or through swallowing, but still that's not enough nutrients. I agree, the child being healthy is the biggest miracle! I mean children lacking just one vitamin, folic acid, causes extreme brain deformities and those children don't live past a few hours.

Who am I to judge? I’ve seen so many miracles in my life. Cancer one day, gone the next. A person dying with no chance of survival from Pneumonia, having exhausted all antibiotics. Then she was prayed over in tongues by my mother. That moment her fever broke. The following day, her lungs were clear. And a day later, she was home. I felt my dad when he passed. Felt him go through me. My mom expressed surprise at seeing my dad and her sisters when she was dying. They had already passed. So, for me anything is possible.

I personally believe that if it’s God‘s will for this woman not to eat, then it’s most definitely possible. Jesus did 40 days and 40 nights without food or water and survived in the desert. That would kill any normal human being, and we know that that was God‘s will. Ultimately, though only God knows the truth. If her only claim was that she did not eat but never gave birth and drank plenty of fluids, I might have an ounce of belief. But this is way beyond the scope of believability. Humans can go weeks if not months on just water. There was an obese man Angus Barbieri who went 382 days without eating food and followed by real medical personnel. In that time, he went from 456 lbs to 180 lbs, so basically starved himself and the only reason he was still alive was because he had so much weight to lose.

I grew up on the mission field in a third world country. I heard a missionary tell about a mountain village that was cut off from all supply lines for months because of earthquakes that caused massive landslides. When rescue workers finally reached the village, they expected to find the people dead or dying of starvation. Instead, they found a happy, healthy community. Yes, I also used to eat like that (when I was eating low carb), but that's VERY different than not eating at all, as she claims to be doing and as other breatharians do. Of course I don't know what the truth of the matter is when it comes to her specifically, but I would just remind people that there is such a thing as breatharians (people who live only on tne energy in the air and sun, which is also innately in us. In the east this energy is called Prana or Chi and it is viewed as the part of God/Tao/Brahman/All That Is/Being in us). I have personally visited India 17 years ago and visited an ashram (spirit-loving commune) with a man who claims to have not eaten for 23 years but lives only on the prana/energy in the air and sun. He stares directly at the rising sun for about 15 minutes every morning and 15 minutes directly at the setting sun every evening. Direct eye contact with the sun (safe to do when the sun is at a low angle in the sky, just after sunrise and just before sunset). The rest of the day his skin is in contact with the sun rays most of the day (except the peak heat of midday) He does a lot of prana-yama (yoga breathing, meant to utilise the prana in the air and activate the part of Brahman/God within us) and also does many other yoga postures, and chants sacred chants in the beautiful Sanskrit language (ancient language of the Vedas). He is barefoot all the time and in direct contact with the earth. He sleeps shortly after sunset, wakes up naturally with the first light of dawn, and doesn't use any electronic devices. He was flown to Germany for medical checks and verification, and was under 24/7 medical supervision by doctors there for several weeks and they confirmed his claims (though they had no medical explanation for this). This visit and medical checks in Germany are fully documented and can be seen at the ashram. There are also official records in the German hospital. He sleeps in a simple earthern room (made of dried clay/mud, which is actually really pleasant and has a very nice feeling in it) on a thin mat on the floor, with other people in the room, so there is no possibility of him sneaking out to the ashram's kitchen - which is 100meters away from where he sleeps - to eat at 3am 🙂 many people would have noticed if he did that. and like I mentioned, in Germany he was under 24/7 medical observation. Of course that doesn't mean anything about this woman's story, but I'm just mentioning it so that people are aware that breatharians do exist..

She's probably getting all her energy from the steam and smell coming from the food she cooked (Energy is neither created nor destroyed but transformed from one state to another). (it is very clear she loves cooking). Such incientances are common in many traditional homes in Papua New Guinea (Pacific), where ladies who cooked food often lose their appetite to eat, after prolonged inhaling of the steam coming out from the cooking food and soup. I just never heard of anyone living on steam (only inhaling of steams from food) as a source of energy for 15 plus years. Those, I know, often ends up eating later on. This story was aired more than 7 years ago. This girl was a house maid and the family who hired her were very much concerned about her not eating and if I remembered it right, she was let go back to her village and the guy from Addis heared about her and went to visit her. This word goes out to local authorities and they think it will be a good tourist attraction for that remote area. The local authorities built a house where she can stay and see guests. I beleive the girl is not lying but its is beyond scientific explanation. if a person fall from a high rise building let us say 10th floor and survived; I thing we just call it a miracle or a lucky person, same goes for Mulualem, she is as honest as that beautiful village we saw on the video.

Guys, I'm from Ethiopia and I first heard about her story almost 10 years + ago when she came on a famous talk show. Then I didn't believe her because back then she claimed she hasn't eaten for 3-5 years(I dont remember the exact claim but it was years). This story is now getting momentum and I for one believe her. Scientifically and medically, yes its not possible. But lets be honest, science also confirms that there are a lot more things that are unknown than that are known. how this could be true is a case of how frequently she’s exposed to a mineral rich environment. You don’t have to swallow something for the rest of your body to absorb it. She also probably has avoided muscle loss this long just by the type of physical activity she does daily. And if you factor in how long most of us ate absolute crap/artificial preservatives/things we pooped out or burned off anyway, it’s feasible to not need food for a long time because many many of us weren’t eating real food for a majority of our growth anyway while her childhood had the real nutrient necessities. The body holds onto reserves of that for a much longer time than we think. Dry fasting protects and repairs the liver, spleen, and kidney also so for all we know her organs both really needed the space to restore themselves and can handle it thus far this long. Especially if she lost her appetite to start with - that must’ve been a signal from her body that something is wrong and it needs space to repair. Listening to signals is mastering health. Fasting also repairs damaged DNA, and bad genes- so she might’ve had enough of a load of that to respond well to this. She probably doesn’t over exert herself in the heat, sleeps deeply which the body needs for every mechanism to be optimum, has enough vitamin D from the sun to keep her immunity high and soaks in enough rich minerals from bathing and rain and touching soil. That lifestyle alone also keeps her hormones balanced at least until she hits menopause! Where protein intake at the least will be key. She’s still young enough to last like this without feeling ill because the adrenals keep her going. Now do I think she can do this for a lot longer from here with no issue? No. If that happens, then we can say she’s cosmic. For now I think it’s pure natural efficiency. I say this as someone who had to water fast for basically years to reset my autoimmune disorders and dry fast for a season at least in between to save my organs from killing me and I can tell you, nothing has ever made me feel healthier than “giving my body up to the gods” as she would put it. The only thing I’ve lost is some enzymes in my intestines to help me digest once I eat again. I haven’t lost any fat because my thyroid (which was ruined prior) reset and held onto it for survival and have only lost a little muscle mass because I didn’t work out. It’s a thing, y’all. The body doesn’t think you’re starving when you’re healing it!! - (and if she’s lying to be the myth of the village - so be it. Villages need myths🎉- particularly ones that solve the greatest plague and grief those villages face (starvation) a little faith in being able to survive that is indeed a spiritual endowment for them). I, however, am not mythology and have lived the proof that if fasting is what your system is truly asking for, giving it feels holy indeed.

He's telling an amazing story, but it just doesn't make sense, and he needs to be open in expressing skepticism. My grandmother had a subsistence garden. She spent all day, growing, harvesting, processing, canning. She told me she didnt eat with the family because she got full on the "vapors" of the food. I do believe her, I've experienced the same thing, and I had to teach myself to eat. Most of the time I feel so much better when I don't and I get a surge of energy and healing that I can't explain. This taught me that fasting heals the body, and most of us are sick from eating food. I healed myself just by not eating and It changed my life.
