Culturally the Dutch were German and even spoke roughly the same language (before 1444 as far as I know). It's still even in the national anthem.

@@Vincrand Well, technically spanish is an italian dialects, its even quite intelligable. Apart from that, there are several flaws in your comparison. While italian and spanish both developed from vulgar latin, they are mostly seperated since ca. 500 AD, aka. the Fall of the Western Roman Empire and since then were never connected by a lingual neighborhood anymore. Dutch on the other hand borders the rest of the german speaking area and thus is and was always connected in the lingual developement. The Netherlands as well as Flanders were part of the HRE for a long time and were broken apart much later, than Spain and Italy were, and in this also only statewise, not geographically. Finally the Dutch and german speaking regions are connected in a dialect continuum. Germans in Niedersachsen bordering the Netherlands speak Platt or Limburgisch and can talk to a Dutchman quite easily, because they essentially speak the same dialects.

@@MMadesen I am from Limburg (Netherlands), but won't be able to understand that much of the German dialect over the border. There are small influences from German in Limburgisch, but it ain't that much. To clarify: I don't speak Limburgisch myself (although I understand it well) and my German is even worse. The spoken language in the Netherlands is so different that it can't be called a dialect. Even Afrikaans can't be called a dialect from the Dutch language, even though it's closer to Dutch, then Dutch is to German. I won't deny that there are similarities, but that can also be said about English (which is a bit more distant). All in all the vocabulary is somewaht similar, but if you look at the percentage of words that are actually the same (also in meaning) you''ll see that it's a rather small number. German should also be the most or 2nd most easy language to learn for native Dutch speakers.

Silesia was clear Slavic land since VII century. At first this land was Celtic. Then Lugii tribes - they were not any Germans. Then was some german influence. But since VII century there were Slavic tribes. Germs went out, and left nothing special. Vratislav (Wrocław) was build by Slavs, not germs - it is not ''Breslau'' Then it was Polish land. In 174X this land became ''german''. And was full German land (but not ethnically) until the end of WWI After WWII Silesia was fully saves from germ occupation

If you do this again, strip austria of most of its lands, it gets a mission and a random event to PU bohemia, and if the HRE finishes the tree the emperor vassalises then eats all willibg states. Making them smaller reduces the risk of both making this more balanced and interesting.

Beautiful! I had some hope in Cologne going somewhere, but Austria is too much Austria. Maybe you could try something similar with some other places with different states in one region, maybe after braking them a little bit in pieces. As a Spanish I would like to see something similar coming from Iberia (go, Galicia!!); but as most of your public is American, you could do it as US colonizing the world. I don't know if there are mods for it, but it would be fun.
