France territorial subdivisions are: Country -> Region (= state?) -> Department (= county?) -> Commune (village/town/city). Obviously, unlike the USA, "regions" don't have the same power that "states" have (due to size, population, governance, constitution etc.) There can also be other subdivisions, especially groups of towns or villages forming Arrondissements (usually 3 per Departments) (= districts?) but it's not considered a legal administrative entity. France also have Cantons (= township?) but again, no legal value to it; more like a random groupings to create electoral areas and ease postal services.
@Lily-xr4yp4 жыл бұрын
Ok let me get this straight. On average, most toilet paper companies have around 70 squares per roll. There are 52 weeks in a year and each American uses approximately 91 toilet paper rolls annually. That means 1.75 rolls are used each week or 122.5 squares. Divide that by 7 and they use 17.5 squares each day. How on Earth would anyone need/use 17-18 squares each day?

Theory: you use more toilet paper if you use bidets, because you'll need to dry somehow. As for the flush/throw into bin, I'm pretty sure that's down to infrastructure. I started flushing in Canada, but I avoided doing that in Indonesia (higher chance of clogging). Then again, I had bidets at home in Indonesia and none in Canada (it was a student dorm, dunno if houses have bidets here).
@OniGarro2 жыл бұрын
Hoping you appreciate this one year late answer, no: you dry with a towlie. Here in Italy most people use toilet paper first and then the bidet, such a waste. Bidet is the best, just think if you have sauce on your beard can you properly wipe it all away with paper? No, you need to wash your face, also toilet paper is hardly susteinable tough not every Country in the world actually make widespread use of it, while everyone should have clean running water in their houses.
@Kielie2 жыл бұрын
As a Canadian, I can confirm for you that most people don’t have bidets in their homes. I have heard that there’s been a rise in people buying one but I personally have never met someone who’s ever had or used a bidet. Apologies for it being a year after you had posted this comment as you likely know that by now.

Months in Finnish and their etymology Tammikuu: Tammi means oak, but in some dialects also means heart or core, which is the root of this name. This is the middle - or core - of winter in Finland. Tammi can also mean axis, and could therefore also be called the axis month of the year (New Year) Helmikuu: Helmi means pearl, and the name comes from icy pearls frozen to twigs and branches you can often see glinting in the sunlight in this month. Maaliskuu: Maa is the ground, maallinen means earthy. This is the month where normally snow melts for the first time, and the bare ground with no vegetation on it yet is visible. Huhtikuu: Huhta is cleared woodland. In this month, woodland was burned and cleared to make space for new fields. Toukokuu: Touko is the seed and planting time, which obviously happens in May. Kesäkuu: Kesä means summer, June is the first month of summer in Finland, and also the midsummer month. Well, that would be too easy, wouldn’t it? And it doesn’t correspond to the farming names of surrounding months. Therefore, it is more likely, that this name comes from “kesanto”, which is fallow ground. In June, fallow fields are ploughed for the first time. Heinäkuu: Heinä is hay, and July is the month when the hay is cut and brought in. Elokuu: Elo means life, but is also an old word for crop, and this is the harvest month. Syyskuu: Syys is a poetic word for autumn, and this is the first month of autumn. Lokakuu: Loka means mud - in October it rains and snows a lot, creating muddy ground. Marraskuu: Marras is an archaic word for dead (we can even find a connection to Latin here: mors!) or the soul of a dead person. Obviously, nothing grows in November, the trees are bare, plants have died down. Joulukuu: Joulu now is Christmas, but goes back much further than that, to the pre-Christian Yule feast. In Finland (and also the Scandinavian languages), the feast was not renamed to a more “Christian” sounding name, but instead one feast has just replaced the other without a name change. And kuu obviously means month and also the moon

Speaking of Mister Roger's sweaters and camera technology: The original costumes for Star Trek were not gold but green. But somehow the studio lighting and the film they were using made that fabric look gold instead of green. In some episodes Kirk is wearing a green uniform that apparently was a very similar shade, but made of a different fabric or different dye that the camera film recorded correctly. I actually once had trousers that looked brown in natural light, but olive green in fluorescent light. Really strange the first time I noticed it, but both shades did not look weird for trousers.
