The truth about "Groundhog Day" is that 2nd Feb. is Candlemas Day in the Catholic Church, and there is an old proverb about this day: If Candlemas be fair and bright, winter will have another flight. If Candlemas bring cloud and rain, winter will not come again. It just means that if the weather is good at the beginning of Februrary, it won't last and the bad weather will return.
