The reason Adoration for None doesn't sound like Joe is because it's not. Randy Blythe from Lamb of God does some guest vocals on the track. He was back then, and still is, a massive fan of the band and supported them a lot in the earlier years.

@@DrewFortune97 the final track "The Way Of All Flesh" is a very underrated Gojira song for me, it's very brutal yet hypnotic. You should check out the live version from "The Garorock Festival 2009", it's an incredible performance of "The Way Of All Flesh".

I think this may be their best album, but that could be primarily based simply on how amazing "The Art of Dying" is. As to your question, I think the intro just barely surpasses the outro of that song. Is there another intro that pumps you up for a song better than this? I can't think of one.

The reason the last track reminded you of Amazonia was because of the throat singing Joe is doing. I believe there’s three songs he does it on. There’s a wicked live video of him doing it for this track, sounds other worldly.

You gotta get to L’Enfant Sauvage man. The deluxe edition though! It’s so emotional and destructive in its rhythmic power. Especially tracks like Mouth of Kala and My Last Creation. There are so many sections with a fantastic groove as well. Also give TWOAF some more spins. You might warm up to it more. Vacuity is my favorite Gojira track btw.

The end track the way of all flesh is what it means to be dying, the main portion of the song is how your body is preparing itself to die with the fear of being nothing setting in, the portion of silence is death, it’s cold, alone, empty, but strangely peaceful, And the hidden track at the end is your soul being transported to another dimension of being, and eventually reincarnation into something else, maybe a baby, a wilderness creature or maybe even the breeze of the ocean sea, either way your purpose is higher.

Def one of their best. Hard to say though. All their records are great (esp. those first 5). Always good to see you do metal too, not just metalcore. Though I love both A LOT, I always like to balance my hardcore AND metal. Would def love to see you more metal like Gojira or Meshuggah, perhaps getting into Opeth? If you're what the sound at the end of Art of Dying and Esoteric Surgery I'd recommend searching for the reverse version of the ending of the song(s) on yt (or you could pop it into a audio reverser). Notice if the melody sounds familiar. It's actually an easter egg hint at the end of Art of Dying of the main tremolo picking melody in Esoteric Surgery (a track which Joe has said they'll never play, not because they can't, but it's very hard to sing while playing guitar and is a speedy track at that). That and the whole haunting vibe carried throughout this album in the background, like in the end of Oroborus and Toxic Garbage Island lends itself well to the album's theme(s). Yeah, 5/6 minutes of silence and hidden track they also did on their first album Terra Incognita, in the last song In the Forest. For this album it really fits well though, esp. with the album's theme of death and afterlife, that whole last track is one of songs I could listen to when I die, or at least that it makes me picture what it must be like, esp. with that haunting hidden track after the track itself ends abruptly like life, and the hidden track representing the passing away itself, or pass on the afterlife (who knows though, that's part of the message and mystery). As I write this, I now wonder if the silence between the track ending and the hidden track is intentional, so that for those who don't believe in an afterlife, the song just ends abruptly there before the silence. But for those who believe in an afterlife, the hidden track is there to remind you that it could be that life goes on, that this is not the end... (or is it the end, or only rebirth, restarting again). And then to put all this next to Magma's theme is very interesting. Which has a more personal discussion of death (just hear Low Lands from that album) as opposed to more philosophical, technical Way of All Fleah. Sorry for the long essay, but just some of my thoughts. Hopefully made it easy to read and not repetitive or misspelled or confusing.

Way of all Flesh is actually an okay place to start but I'd recommend going backwards from there. A lot of newer Gojira fans love their new stuff and I prefer this album and everything before. The Link is number 1 for me followed by From Mars To Sirus. Terra Incognito is also very good. Their new stuff is good too but they did take their foot off the gas slightly. Songs like Silverado are still amazing from their new catalogue.

Been here since the early Gojira reactions, as a huge Gojira fan, i can understand you thinking the album was very good, but not exceptional. I have it with every Gojira album. This is probably my favourite with Terra Inc. but it’s not perfect. What won me over were the live versions, those are just so so good. If you do Gojira, you gotta check out specific live versions. They’re resuming their tour in Dublin in february, i hope you got them to tickets tho. Saw them this summer, great as always but don’t expect the Gojira energy from 20 years back. Still great show and a must-see. Cheers

favorite gojira album? this one, for sure. its actually my favorite album period, its the only one I've bought a physical copy. i just love this shit by the way, my interpretation of the end stretch with nothing and then something comes back on, is that this cycle of life has ended, the person died at the end of the way of all flesh, and now is being reborn again. into oroboros, the song describing the cycle itself. I think it's just genius storytelling, not only musicianship and song writing.

One more comment! I think this album would improve if they removed track 3 entirely. It's cool to try something different but I think bringing the electronica to the Gojira fans so early in the album was not the best move. I ALWAYS skip it even though it gets cool near the middle. No point in putting up with it when the rest of the album is awesome. The best part of this album is the end! Tracks 8 9 and 10 are ALL FIRE! And no, I don't think anyone shouldn't like that Toxic Garbage Island riff. I don't understand people that don't like that sound.
