'Luna' is their most popular song and its lyrics are written by Trey Celaya, their drummer (now in Fit for a king too). His brother committed suicide and the last lines "Despite what i've said, i'm not bitter / Only regretful of the time we didnt spend / the laughs we didn't share / the brother you could have been" is sang by Trey! That makes the last part even more emotional

To add to this, Trey is still in Invent Animate by the way. He’s even in the most recent music video.

@@Austinwevo yeah luckily he's still a songwriter and in the band! Would love to see him tour with them again at some point, even though Brodie taylor Smith is tight af!

This will always be my favorite album from them, it just incites such a full feeling of emotions that I can easily drift through the album start to finish and come out either invigorated or just at peace. Absolute master class for their first album. They will always be one of my top favorite bands. Glad they never gave up.

Yessirrrr! 👏 I’m glad you enjoyed it as much as I do still to this day. I related Ben English’s lyrics back then and now it’s just a fond memory I have because this album as well as Stillworld’s got me through some stuff back then. Instrumentally speaking, these two albums have aged like fine wine in my opinion and I hope you get to react to Stillworld soon. Trey Celaya (drummer, but also tour drummer for Fit For A King nowadays as mentioned before in the comments) also writes guitar parts for IA, so he’s also a huge part of IA’s sound.

I love everything Invent Animate has done especially the later works but this album stays so dominant for me. I dont know if i can pick favorites but Native Intellect and Moon Phase really connected with me alot then and still.

I believe, roots in the sound and vocals of early IA, besides Erra, also from the first Northlane album - Discoveries. Highly recommend.

Hey, I know this is gonna be a random comment, but I'm watching your Lorna Shore Sun//Eater reaction and you were curious why people like music with tons of staccato notes and blast beats. I can't answer for everyone but for me personally, my ears and mind get bored of regular drum beats and rhythms very quickly, especially when at lower tempos. I also enjoy a giant wall of sound and harsh vocals and high tempos. That doesn't really leave much room for other types of drum beats. I think the main appeal is the combination of power, speed, groove, and complexity. There are usually multiple melodic and rhythmic elements happening at once. There also has to be beauty among the brutality, madness, and chaos for me. That's why I'm not personally down with bands like Infant Annihilator. I like it when songs have so much happening so quickly that it takes many many listens to fully get it all in. Another thing to consider is that some instruments take on different roles sometimes in extreme metal. For instance the drums often times don't carry an actual beat, they just accent main beats made by the vocals and guitar while holding a drone(blast beating). I find that harsh vocals often share a bigger burden on carrying the rhythm section than would be found in any other genre that doesn't use blast beats. TL;DR It's fast enough to keep my brain happy.
