Having a uniform really was a breakthrough for me when it came to fashion. Having a basic, minimal, set of pieces that are your weekday go-tos have so many benefits. Eliminates the stress and time taken up in the morning when trying to figure out what to wear. It also helps contrasts when you do decide to dress up for maybe the weekend or going out. When people see you wear a plain white tee and black trousers everyday, you’ll almost always get a reaction whenever you decide to pull some unique pieces out
@Mister_Phafanapolis2 жыл бұрын
For others reading this, I wouldn’t recommend defaulting to black trousers and a white shirt. That’s a very high contrast outfit and cuts your body in half, accentuates your waist and breaks you clearly into a top and bottom half. Black is an overrated color. Black shows any and all lint, pet hair, dust. It _“matches with everything”_ in the sense that it equally matches with nothing else. Black obscures any visual texture the fabric might have. It’s inappropriate for day time or the summer. Worst color possible IMO. Trousers-and a-tee are fine, but I would recommend literally any other color besides black.
@Coderedpirate2 жыл бұрын
@@Mister_Phafanapolis I respect your opinion, but that's what works for me. Luckily I don't have any problems with dust, lint, pet hair, etc. so my black pieces are always clean aside from the occasional fading. As for the high contrast, it's generally pretty accepted for color blocking that colors opposite to each other in the color wheel go together just as well as those that are beside it. Again, all opinion and preference. Wear whatever makes you confident!

I love how you highlighted that we should look inwards at our personal interests and how we identify ourselves to shape how we dress. At the end of the day there is no wrong way to dress. We're all just telling a story about who we are with the clothes that we put on everyday. The only thing I hate about fashion is how some people in the sphere can be extremely vain, frivolous, and judgemental. Especially in this fashion influencer/micro-celebrity day and age, a lot of people seem to take themselves too seriously and have grown out of touch from being a good human. I say this from personal experience knowing and meeting a lot of people like this in Los Angeles. I just hope at the end of the day people understand that there is nothing absolute and superior about their tastes. Fashion is about self-expression in the fleeting lives we live. Self-expression that doesn't have to come at the expense of judging and stigmatizing others.

Definitely Tyler the creator. His style is disruptive in a classic kind of way, especially in recent years. Nothing he wears is really anything we haven’t seen before but it’s more like styles that have been moved away from by the masses. And the way he puts colors together always seems fun no matter what the pieces are. #pvv

It’s not nothing we’ve seen before (lots of influences from other older styles) BUT it’s his very own unique take on the retro style The color use, certain pieces, and street influences def brings something new to the retro style that has. Even explored in other high fashion luxury brands (take fendi, Gucci, and LV old runways)

This is a good question. To me a trend is temporary, something a celebrity would wear and all of a sudden some ppl have to wear it. However, style is personal, proportion based by putting something together.

My 2 cents on this: a few years ago I developed my uniform, mostly white shirts and flared jeans with menswear inspired shoes. Recently I‘ve started experimenting within the frame of my uniform: colorful jeans, same cut but different fabric, big sleeves, high collars, etc. If feels great to be able to try out new things without putting on a costume

It's quite a 'trendy' style rn and one I take heavy inspiration from that being Daniel Simmons'. I love his use of soft tones and heavy focus on proportionality. I really enjoy juxtaposing traditionally quite formal pieces with large oversized/more modern silhouettes. Great vid as always man #PVV

I like the idea of an uniform, I think I will never get tired of the slim black Jeans, regular white shirt and relaxed overshirt combo. But trying new things and pushing your comfortzone ist way to much fun at the moment.

I love your thoughts on pretty much everything on this vid but I differ on making a uniform right off the bat. I think that to make a uniform you first have to explore fashion for some good time, narrow it down to the core of *what you truly like* & then you’ll be able to assemble something you’ll be happy with

As someone who likes to always be doing something interesting with my outfits, I find the idea of a uniform scary but also comforting. I guess I can have the freedom to wear the same stuff all the time and not be creating a world altering brand new fit every day for class. I can be creative with clothing, but I shouldn’t put pressure on myself to do something new every single day.

I love Im Changkyun's style. His style has evolved in recent years and while it's not ground breaking nor do I think it's trend setting but his style feels like it was made for him. Within the first few months I had people telling me that the way I dress (and sometimes act) reminds them of a sitcom character from the 70s, 80s or 90s. It's the most interesting compliment I've ever gotten 😚 It's also wild that I had girls in my class during middle school tell me that me wearing oversized clothes were weird, but now It's a huge trend.

My best advice is wear what gets your creative juices flowing. I typically put the outfit together in my head based on something I want to wear, like a specific shirt or color. Once you put it all on commit to it and walk out the door without second guessing. People will notice your positive vibes more than the clothes on your body so at the and of the day, if you are inspired by your outfit, you’ll give off positive vibes.

My friends have been noticing recently that because of the way I love thrifting and getting clothes from my mom’s old work clothes (men can wear women’s clothes as long as they fit XD), I end up looking like I time traveled from 2004. I study trends, look at the young adults my age and how they dress, I could easily dress “trendy” if I wanted to. But I don’t, I like my time traveler style because it feels like me, and I hope other people evolve their styles like that too :3
@80apocryphal132 жыл бұрын
The big thing you overlooked is the huge downside to being trendy is... it's unsustainable. I don't even necessarily mean in a moral, planetary sense, though those are serious issues, but just financially and temporally. Influencers have the benefit of being gifted clothes and styled, but for the average person, it's time spent keeping on top of the trends and maintaining a reasonably sized closet, and money spent constantly updating with no end in sight since there's always going to be something new. You're much better off figuring out what you like and is going to stick and using that 5-10% to figure out what styling, tweaks, or combos you can do to make it feel more current.

OKay, One Thing I would challenge you on is when you mentioned that "In the US, most people dont dress well". Honestly not even really about the "US" part - although I think that could be another beneficial conversation - but the "dressing well". What does that mean exactly? What does someone who "dresses well" look like? If there's such thing as dressing "well", who decided on that objective definition- and why do you agree? What is the benefit/impact of having a conversation about "personal" "unique" style while still upholding the constricting ideals of dressing "well". All those questions are rhetorical btw lol but hopefully you get what im trying to say. Id honestly love to know what you think- whether you agree or not
