Drew, as an architectural engineering student, I have been able to study architecture design theory. An interesting connection that I see more and more just through experience and through discussion is that the same fundamental design principles that are taught in architecture design courses, are the same ones you talk about in your videos. Essentially, what I am saying is that you are speaking about fashion in a way that is digestible for conversation between anybody. I really appreciate your stuff.

“Tension” is the perfect way to put it. I’ve recently been more intentional about getting into fashion (it’s always piqued my interest but I never put any actual effort) and I couldn’t find the right way to describe why I liked certain looks or outfits (even ones I started putting together). I’m still a beginner but I feel like this gives me a great place to start!
@Bulletproof-Rose6 ай бұрын
It finally makes sense why so many outfits feel like they aren't bad or ugly in any way, but are just really boring to me. I've never really been able to describe it, but it's that tension for sure!

Just wanted to plug a newsletter I’ve been enjoying and I think you’d like the read too: it’s Tahirah Hairston’s substack newsletter Ridiculous Little Things. She interviewed David Marx (author of Ametora) in the latest issue. He talks about “tension” as “congruence” - it’s not about just throwing random things together, but understand the context (past, present, and future) of each piece and how they relate to each other. Anyway, that’s where I am on my personal style journey and really appreciate all your videos digging into fashion history!

I've, admittedly, only seen a couple of your videos. But this one seems like a real step up. Well thought out, and professionally polished. Nice job. I also enjoyed how you put into words what I try to do with my fits. Keep it up.

Drew, could you do a video discussing the process of scoping out and buying new pieces for the wardrobe? I have a strong desire to fill my wardrobe with high quality pieces ranging from timeless to daring, but it's hard to actually find anything I like. Heck, I live in the heart of a midwestern city but even in this setting, there really isn't many options for finding good clothes. There are just dead malls and thrift stores that mostly carry recycled "mall brands" or Somebody's old high school spirit week tee shirts. Id imagine this describes the majority of your viewers, so putting out such a video could help a lot of people out. Best wishes.

A layering video is a must!! I'd really love to hear your take on layering through different seasons(hot/cold) and also on different body types. I love layering in my outfits but as a curvier woman sometimes it's hard to find pieces that don't make you look frumpy when layering with other things.
@jiannesy91617 ай бұрын
I love how layering helps create new outfits out of pieces that we don't usually wear together and I think it also helps when you travel and have limited space for your luggage and still want to look stylish on your trip ❤ Please make a video about it Drew! This is one of the major trends in fashion since at least 2 decades, if we mean for fashion what people really wear. Because as for what we see on catwalks things are much more varied. Two of the more contemporary fashion designers who have made contrasting one of their main design principles are Dries Van Noten and Prada. They use a lot things as mixing and matching different patterns, different types of fabric, the “pretty” and the sportswear, what is traditionally considered as “bad taste” mixed with what is “good taste”. Their main goal is never to be obvious and they are very successful in this! But other famous brands follow other trends. If you consider for example Armani, his creations are still very coherent with the traditional principles of uniformity (in colour etc.). In fact Armani has always appreciated to be considered a “classic”, a “modern” classic, so to speak. His innovations regard other fashion trends, above all shapes, structure, fluid comfortable fabrics, playing in a subtle manner with traditional gender fashion codes. The same can be said of other “traditional” brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren or even Chanel. Merci bien! A bientôt! ❤

I started by giving away almost my entire wardrobe and changing a hairstyle. I really do feel like a completely different person now!
