I have a question that will sound a bit stupid maybe. Does the camera really pick up all those crazy patern as they are or you have edited them to look like more like a special effect in a video editing software... the light traces are crazy. Im guessing that its not like this in real life but does it capture like this on a camera??

I have it too and I really love it 🥰 Thank you for the discount too ~ But how do we charge it ? ^^ I can't reach it ^^

I can tell you what i've found with my Vision props.... the "receiver" prop ALWAYS goes out before the other one. It seems it doesn't know how to sleep very well and is in *CONSTANT* "listening" mode. It's bad enough that the "receiver" prop will lose almost all charge literal days before the other one will if they're not being charged/used daily. It's really noticeable.

Oh huh...that might be why I got such different results with that first battery test. That would definitely make sense but I’ve also notice sometimes they drop pairing and have to be re-paired as well. I wonder what the circumstances are under which that pairing drops and how long it tends to last for otherwise.

@@DrexFactor I thankfully haven't had any problems with my Vision props de-syncing (that's a good thing because it's a contact staff, and would be SO annoying to re-sync constantly) but i have found the battery issue to be kind of irritating, because it can't be good to either a) keep it plugged in 24/7 or to b) let it drain to empty constantly........ I have a staff from pyroterra and that one can last in idle mode for MONTHS and not lose it's charge. But it also has no wifi to worry about. So i'm not really sure which is better. *shrugs*

I got a vision contact saber from them this month. It's amazing.

I've been seriously contemplating picking up a pair of Vision Sticks as well as Vision Poi, although for the Poi it's a tough decision between the 9 and 16, as I honestly can't decide between them. Out of sheer curiosity, would you happen to have any footage of how the poi look while being spun without the trails added in post? ^_^
@DelusionalDaydream4 жыл бұрын
FWIW, I have a set of the Pyroterra Light Toys Visual Poi Minis, and the trails look really good. These should be no different. There is a big difference in handling between longer and shorter poi which may or may not be an issue for you. I ordered a set of the Spin 9’s, because I don’t generally care for the handling characteristics of the longer poi due to weight distribution (as Drex mentions in this video).
@DrexFactor4 жыл бұрын
I do but unfortunately I don’t currently have access to it. I think the 16s will feel less like traditional poi due to the wider weight distribution but that’s just my own 2 cents. I LOVE the feel of the 9s.

@@DrexFactor Thanks for the honest answer - I've always been curious about how the somewhat longer ones would feel

@@DrexFactor Replying again as CanadaPost decided to finally process my FlowToys order and delivered it to me. What you've said about weight distribution makes so much more sense now that I've a pair of PodPoi as well as Fuzzy Poi - the weight on the PodPoi is a lot more noticeable and focused, whereas the fuzzy poi isn't as focused. I bought both because I wanted to be able to bring a pair with me to work, and $25 USD is a lot smaller of a hit to take if they wind up being damaged, lost, or stolen. I suspect that means I'd prefer the feel of the 9's as well!

I realize this video is really old, but I was wondering if you could possibly help me? My wife and I started going to veld, and she really wants to learn how to use poi balls. I wanted to get her some really nice ones for Christmas, and I was wondering if you could possibly point me to the best site to buy a great set of poi to buy for her as a beginner? Thank you so much in advance!

Hey, love your videos. I was wondering if you would be willing to share with me how you make your trails in the flow videos...if you don't mind, or if I should reach out to you in a different way for this, would be awesome. Been making my own trippy flow videos myself and would love to incorporate this skill into my videos, thx!

How does the tracing work ? The light has moved on with the prop head but it leaves a sort of comet tail. does the light of the poi interact with ones eyes which allows the viewer's brain to leave a trace of the light in the memory for a couple of Milli-seconds thus creating the illusion of the trace / prop heads comet tail ? I suppose a bit like if you look directly at the sun with your eyes closed (of course, otherwise you could blind yourself permanently!) and you see sun spots afterwards for a minutes or two, when you open your eyes again for normal viewing. Correct me if I am not on the right track !
@melvinrobinson77894 жыл бұрын
My guess is slow waves of light by the time the light reaches you the prop has already moved. If that makes sense. We dont see things as they happen rather as the light reflects off of them happening and back to us
@DrexFactor4 жыл бұрын
Persistence of vision. The same effect that makes animation and TV screens work. The long and short of it is that when light hits your eye it activates a signal in the neurons that go between your cornea and brain. Unlike a computer, that signal is not a simple on/off. It’s a signal that builds up and then also fades out rather than being turned off. This means that your brain is still receiving signal though the eye is no longer receiving the light, so you continue to see what that light was showing for a little while (this is also what causes after image). These poi make use of this by rapidly changing which pixels are on and off and what color they are displaying to render patterns that the brain can then pick up. Interestingly, video cameras cannot pick these patterns up very easily because for them picking up light is a simple on/off process. You have to actually put the video through post-production effects in order to simulate the effect these poi have on your eyes.

POV effects also works better with dark backgrounds and low brightness of a prop. it will look like having longer tails

Are the patterns very clear with the 9's? I'm considering getting the 16 for a better visual experience but if the 9's can give a clear image and be a smaller form factor that might be better
@DrexFactor4 жыл бұрын
They’re clear to me. Bear in mind that none of the patterns available are super detailed so having spun these as well as the Vision Staffs two years ago I’d see the patterns are just as recognizable either way.
