The Secret to the Poi Mercedes (Intermediate Poi Hybrid Tutorial)

The poi mercedes is probably one of the most popular and ubiquitous poi hybrids out there and in this tutorial on these intermediate poi tricks I'm going to guide you through the steps to really nail it down. The mercedes is a poi triquetra vs extension hybrid that's going to require you to be pretty comfortable both with your poi triquetra as well as knowing how to do polyrhythm hybrids. I'll drill down my best techniques for putting together these poi tricks in some ways that might seem a little outside the box but will help you master the tricky timing and intricate shifting of poi planes that make these poi spinning tricks possible!

For me it was helpful to focus on doing a small circle (with one hand) inside a big circle / full extension (with the other hand) in split-time opposites at the bottom and same-time opposites at the top, and focus on the big circle / full extension falling outside (that is, in the position further from your body) of the small circle as it comes down. Basically this will look like the big circle is turning in the opposite direction of the smaller circle inside it. Little by little, experiment with turning that small circle inside the pattern into a triquetra by wobbling it out of a a pure circle using the same basic manipulation that should already be established to make the small circle, but exaggerated and "tilted," so to speak.

Can this be done with the triquetra pointed down? Or from split opp facing outwards?
