@@DrGains Just got home from the gym and tried this, and: WOW! (yes, I have 2am workouts, 'tis the life of a night shift RN lol) I worked chest and lateral/posterior delts (I find that my anterior delts usually get too much attention), and I tried this isolation cross over technique--I found that it was a fantastic isolation for the pec, really working the muscle, and I had a solid mind-muscle connections. Can't wait to keep using this and see the results.

I copy your technique by having an open palm, thus focusing on the chest doing the actual work. The feeling is awesome 💪🏼

But i hear everyone saying inner chest doesn't exist and you can't train. I also hear people say you can't fully isolate a part of the chest.

Isolating the upper, mid, and lower chest is irrefutably possible, due to the variation in origination points of pec major (of course "isolation" is relative... the other pec muscles will inevitably be activated, but to a much lesser degree). There is some controversy regarding mid vs outer chest though - I'm planning on doing a full video on that principle sometime soon 👍

What's the physiological phenomenon that makes you contract the inner half of a muscle fiber?

It's not that you're only contracting the inner half.. the whole fiber is activated and contracting to some degree or another. It's a matter of preferential activation based on a greater degree of extension/contraction and work being done at targeted areas. This is most easily seen with upper/lower abs. Will do a video on it soon.

How do you have less of a muscle? What are some daily activities we may not even be aware we are doing that increase calf size in those of us overly blessed! Thanks

It would be very difficult to replicate with dumbbells.. you'd have to be laying on your side in order to get gravity to provide resistance at the right angle. Sir I have pain and cracking sound in every joints..since 4 years slowly it com3 across every small joints ....done with MRI but nothing shows abnormal....not really knowing what happened to my joints...can you give me suggestions

Their is only 3 fibers, their is no inner chest.

That's a common misconception. Preferential targeting of specific sections of the same muscle fiber is possible and has been confirmed via many studies. Yes, the whole fiber is activated, but not to the same degree. It also depends on which specific muscle fibers you're talking about. I'll do a full video on it in the near future.

If you isolate the outer and inner chest when flexing, you can isolate either when training.

why are you so obsessed with isolation exercises? for the most part you should be doing compound exercises for the big muscle groups such as the pecs or the back. There is in most cases no need to isolate the lower half of the pec and usually it is the clavicular head that needs more stimulation

Isolation movements become increasingly more important as one advances in bodybuilding. A very experienced bodybuilder knows exactly what changes they want to make to their physique and will spend a proportionate amount of time addressing their weak points.

Dips with a bar in front of you also works if you can't get to a cable machine (lower pecs). Think of the second phase of a muscle up. Inner pec (isometric) exercise can be a pole in front of you at abdominal or solar plexus levels. Just crush your palms into the pole as hard as you can and hold for as long as possible with reps. Just adding some others! 👌👌💪💪👊👊🦍

I agree with you as well. Front bar dips are excellent. Gives a great pump with a short range of motion.
