13:34 My only disappointment is did not get talim on Indian classical music. For the grace of god I have got skill in listening and picking up any songs. But inside I feel very low not understanding what in the structure of the piece I am singing. When different gharanas are discussed I really feel puzzled on differenciating each other.

One more thing all Indian schools should do is to teach classical music as part of school curriculum, start early, teach swara to each kid, this will ensure that classical music has a big fan base, plus some hidden geniuses will emerge

Namashkar Guruji. Please upload KZbin video on how to master taal in Hindustani music. I have been learning Hindustani classical music in the US for more than 11 years and as you know , here in US, it is very very difficult to find a live tabla artist to practice with all the time. Currently, I am practicing with apps like itablapro and naadsadhana. But, the issue is I get very very nervous and confused when tabla artists start playing fillers . For instance, I am fine and can sing okay if a tabla artist just plays " dha dhin dhin dha, dha dhin dhin dha, dha thin thin tha, tha dhin dhin dha for teental .. or just dhin dhin dhage thirakita thunakatha dhage thirakita dheena for ektal.. I know the theory and structure and setup behind these taals like the Sam, thali, khali etc.. Such as beat number 9 is khali in teental and beats numbers 3 and 7 are khali in ektal and first beats are the " sam" in teental and ektal and beats 5 and 13 are thali in teental, beats, 5,9, and 11 are thali in ektal. Teental is divided into 4 vibhags and ektal is divided into 6 vibhags. Teental has 16 matras and ektal has 12 matras. This is what is used when singing madhyalay and drut compositions . But it depends on the bpm( beats per minute) of the composition. There is no special taal called vilambit teental or vilambit ektal. It is just teental or ektal slowed down. So, 12 into 4 is one full cycle of vilambit ektal or 48 matras. And 16 into 4 or 64 matras is one full cycle of vilambit teental. Also, here are some important things that I have learnt about vilambit: 1. Vilambit is also called bada khayal 2. Depending on the gharana: artists will usually sing vilambit in these 4 major taals: ektal, teental, jhoomra( a 14 beat cycle) or tilwada( a variation of teental) 3. Vilambit is where an artist sings all sorts of improvisational ornamentation techniques in the bandish such as anibadh alap, alap, bol alap, swar badath, slow sargam, alap sargam, alap swar, swar taan, gamak taan, gamak, kaN swar( grace notes), meend, khatka, murki, andolan, bol baant , sargam baant, laykaari, dugun, tigun, chugun, many types of tans like choot tans, loot taans, sapaat taans, mishra taans etc.. I can go on and on Guruji there is so much to learn. It really is a lot. But worth it. I don't have issues in learning the techniques of singing Hindustani music or the theory of Hindustani music or learning about the history of Hindustani music which I have focused a lot on for the past 12 years. But mastery of taal is my weakness. You see, I grew up in US and I am actually South Indian and my base for many years was Carnatic classical music and western vocal in school and also some Hindustani vocal . But I never really focused much on learning the taal part of Hindustani music in my younger days. I learnt mostly bhajans, ghazals, nice film songs, some classical, playing harmonium etc. But, I never focused really deep on mastering the taal part of Hindustani music. I am now trying to master Hindustani taals with apps like the apps I have mentioned " Itablapro and naadsadhana. As you know in Carnatic music, vocalists put the taal in hand when they sing. And that is how I have been trained. I really admire you Hindustani singers and how you can sing without putting the taal in hand and hopefully I can do that too. Please suggest some ways that I can try at home to practice and some practice methods that I can try to master taal at home. Is there any app that u can suggest to help me that is specific to help with Hindustani taal mastery?
