Hi Nina! i just finished watching this video. I'm as impatient as you, so I'm going to give it try!. i've got similar leaves here in the Basque Country and last Saturday i picked a bunch of short branches of divers colors and shapes to eco dye. After making floral arrangement to put on a vase , I also left some of leaves and little branches to dry. They did naturally, but schrank. I'm trying to do what you did in your last Sunday's video. thumbs up! Hugs

Did you use new sheets of wax paper each time? Or did keep the tea towels and wax paper for entire session? Just not sure what I can pull from my garden, since I have not been able to care for it in the heat. I wonder if doing individual rose petals would be valuable in this project, or just colorful/interesting leaves?
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia 7 жыл бұрын
+Monica Eggleton Yes I did. I saw a post on Pinterest where someone was preserving flowers with melted wax, so Decided to try wax paper. I think the wax also helps to keep the flowers from falling apart quite so easily. I think individual rose petals would look gorgeous. Single leaves look wonderful too - I’ve been playing!

This reminds me of a craft project from my child hood using the wax paper and iron. We'd spread crayon shavings from the Crayola crayon box between wax paper and iron until melted & fused together. Then we'd cut shapes of butterfly's, leaves, dragonflys, flowers etc out. With today's dies - that craft project just might need a re-visit!

I've been looking for silica sand for drying leaves. All I can find is silica gel. The gel is like bb's. It leaves lumps in your leaves. I thought about ironing them between fabric and spraying them with fabric starch, but instead, I'm going to try your method. It looks great. Wish me luck.

Love what you have collected and I will be trying out your way to secure the dried sprigs onto card (part 2 video). I have an even quicker method that may be of interest - it's a Microfleur microwave flower press. I did some lavender sprigs taking 30-60 seconds! The original Microfleur is still available but expensive nowadays. I see there are cheaper options but no idea how effective they are. Love all your videos.
