He couldn't. He'd die if he stayed in the game and if he logged and killed Miu that way he'd be found out. And who'd be willing to help him? *Everyone hated him, nobody would believe him if he told them.* Nobody except of course the kindhearted and caring Gonta Gokuhara. A man who believes in second chances and is completely willing to give one to even one as rotten as Kokichi. While, yes, I do agree that Kokichi's actions were really fucking bad I don't really think you should hate him for it. I mean seriously, he was just doing everything he could to survive. Do you hate Sayaka for trying to kill Leon to see her friends again? Do you hate Miu for trying to back Kokichi into a corner and deceive all of her friends to get out? Do you hate the entire cast of every game for calling out the murderer among them so they could live another day? Kokichi's a shitty person but I don't think that's reason enough to hate him. He was just trying to survive. And if you throw some shit at me like "Oh but what about Chapter 5 where he threw away his life?" That was a sacrifice for the greater good. The killing game would've ended then and there if Kaito didn't jump his ass out of the Exisal and ruin it.

Idk why the line "you keep on turning pages for people who don't care about you" hurts me so much, but here we are AND "Everyone's gone on without you" WHEN ALMOST EVERYONE ACTUALLY VOTES FOR HIM LIKE HOLY SHIT THAT BROKE ME Well, it also broke me when in the execution even when he was serious he was crying, and seeing how a thing that he cherished was used to literally kill him. Like imagine not having any memory of what you supposedly did and you just have to rely on other's opinions to believe it. Like he literally used him, and more than him, he used his Alter Ego, played with his emotions, And made him not see another way to find a solution but to kill someone, and he has to pay the price of it! Actually, the whole video broke me. This chapter for me felt like a horrible personal flashback around how a toxic friendship can turn against you when you don't even know it. HECK, even the execution felt like it, pinching you little by little, then stabbing you, and then it just keeps hurting you, even when it passes like... I know I'm reaching, but it makes sense in my head. Everyone being either upset or crying, even Maki showing some tears... I talked way too much but I just wanna say now: you did an amazing job at portraying the emotion of everyone during the chapter, and probably how the player felt even. Hopefully, more people see this masterpiece!

I agree to an extent but I think the reason everyones specifically saying Gonta deserved better was because he was probably the most selfless of the bunch (excluding Kaede who also did it to free everyone, but even then Gonta has always been really kind and tried to act like a gentlemen. Kaede killed to set everyone free while Gonta killed for the opposite, but both meant well and did it for everyone else compared to alot of the other blackends and I think its a cool way to see it) and just knowing he didnt even remember killing her made it more sad. Idk thats my reasoning anyways, it was the only execution out of 2 in the entire series that made me tear up.

Let me say this rn I love kokichi but I can't ignore that he chose some horrible choices and I can't ignore that he was a selfish little brat, and yet he is my most favorite character in the entire danganronpa series. He is also the most well written and deep character. In my opinion he is the most and least human of all the cast. He made horrible choices and yet for a good reason. I chose to forgive him about gonta and I chose to believe his last words, but others won't and that's what's really entertaining about his character. Others may believe and others won't. Others may hate him and others won't. That's what makes a fictional character good. It's when people keep talking and debating about them. Up until now it can never be proven whether kokichi was lying at some points or not and that's why I love him. He is a character that's worth analyzing. He is not a villain but he is an antihero.

Uh theory thing (spoilers) In the neo world program you can see kokichi trying to hate Gonta because he saw what happened to Kaede (her execution, probably the most brutal one I know cause it lasted 8 hours). He didn’t want to die so he could “end the killing game” by falsely revealing he’s the mastermind, triggering the thought “oh the killing game is done, I’m the mastermind so no more killing.” If miu were to kill him, his death would be meaningless, hence continuing the killing game to a further extent. So basically, at the end of the trial when Gonta was to be executed, you clearly see Gonta to be forgiving towards kokichi, but kokichi didn’t want to show any forms of sadness cause as mentioned before, Kaede. Monokuma probably noticed this and still have Gonta a gruesome execution, but a bit shorter than Kaede’s. So I’d say the fault would’ve been Miu for literally starting this in the first place-
