This gun is nasty on hardcore. High skill gun. You need to stay calm and pick your battles. Ghost, suppressor and flanking will reward you with full team wipes.

I think the recoil in Hc on this gun is easier to mitigate than a single fire m4, mainly because with 30 rds I felt tempted to dump faster than the fal. But for long ranges, as far as HC ttk is concerned, this thing is king. It's definitely better than the ebr or dragonuv. M4 is easier for sure but I like the stuff I captured with the fal more simply cus it showcases my skill.

Its a super rewarding gun to use, it’s satisfying to get those 2 shot kills and if you keep your calm, stay behind cover and pick people off who go in the open, you’ll be on a nice streak because the damage on this gun allows you to challenge anybody at almost any 6v6 or 10v10 range

@Squirtly Dude i go back and forth between them. I have the EBR as a main Overkill Ground War Class made for mini-sniping and chilling on a roof somewhere. The class is setup to where if I wanted to actually snipe i just switch the EBR to the HDR and Im set. I run the FAL the exact same way I run my two full auto normal loadouts because the FAL can stil run and gun but a bit more slowly compared to an AR.

The burst was much better. I used it vs. Bots and loved it. Grinded the gun during dbl weapon xp then they nerfed the burst the next day. Now it's a useless perk, it was much quicker and more controlled.

I just got the FAL gold and found that the XRK barrel is simply amazing and then one can just add the Close Quarters stock, stippled grip, commando grip/ sleight of hand, and a scout combat optic or a gi mini reflex. The FAL just felt so good in this game and I was also able to learn that the FAL is insanely accurate from the hip when I was getting the dragon challenges.

This gun is my go-to long range weapon in HC, especially for bigger maps. Variable zoom for sniping on maps like Grazna Raid, switch to red dot for CQC on Shoot House etc.

I know you don't play hardcore but the DMR setup is amazing for that, it's better than any of the DMR's or Snipers in MW with faster handling, still a one hit kill at any range, lower recoil, and faster fire rate.

GOAT FAL set up is XRK barrel CQC stock Stippled grip Sniper/variable zoom scope (5th slot is your choice) It’s not super maneuverable but shoots beamz and is pretty dominant in the medium to medium-long range

I use it as a marksman rifle in Ground War. Same as your balanced setup although I'm still undecided if it should be a stock or underbarrel to try and reduce recoil even more. Had some success using the lightweight silencer instead of the compensator and didn't notice too much of a difference.

The true Ground War is 10v10. What they call Ground War in this game isn't Ground War. It's Battlefield mixed with Blackout elements. And if I wanted to play either of those then I'd go back and play them, but Battlefield hasn't been decent since 4 and Blackout will likely soon be outdated once MW Battle Royale comes out. I used to hate Battle Royale with a passion but COD actually managed to get it right and I realized there could potentially be many different flavors of Battle Royale, and it just has to have the right style of gameplay.

Tried ground war and it could be some sort of a start for something cool (although clearly different) but the overpowered snipers got the best of me. They're killing this mode and IW does nothing about it. You don't have this problem in BF4 and people do play sniper.

IIRC, Battlefield generally has a higher skill ceiling than COD because bullets in that game are actually projectiles instead of hitscan. As such, bullets in Battlefield have real bullet drop and travel distance to account for.

I actually really like the burst perk on the FAL and don't mind the irons. The FAL is the only weapon in the game that can consistently one-burst people at all ranges (only need to hit 2 shots at close to midrange, and landing all 3 shots can kill out to any range). Unlike the Famas, which becomes almost useless at midrange and beyond, the burst FAL is more like the OG M16 from COD4/MWR. If you use recoil improving attachments to tighten up the shot pattern as much as possible, you stand a good chance of landing your whole burst even at longer ranges. It's extremely satisfying to one-burst people with the FAL cross map, especially if you don't have a excellent trigger finger, like me (I'm average at best). My suggested FAL burst classes: Slower play style/longer engagements: 1) Burst perk (obviously) 2) XRK barrel ( better range and recoil) 3) Compensator (additional range and recoil control) 4) Commando foregrip (tightens side to side recoil) 5) Stippled grip or CQC stock (improve ADS) Short to midrange, more movement oriented: 1) Burst perk (obviously) 2) Para OSW barrel (faster movement and ADS) 3) Merc Foregrip (recoil control and better hipfire) 4) 30 round mags (10 full bursts available, which will go fast in CQC) 5) Optic of your choice, compensator, or stippled grip (optic if you don't like the irons, compensator if you want extra recoil control, or stippled grip if you want lower ADS/sprint out time) Let me know what you think and if either work for you. FAL was always my go-to in cod but i can't use it in this game. It's still a good gun, especially after they reduced the recoil, but in this game it feels like every other gun has gotten more lethal so it's harder to justify using a more difficult weapon. I thought i could maybe improve it with the burst perk but i was surprised how bad it is, the recoil and re-fire rate are terrible, i did try stopping power with it also but activating then being shot in the back due to this game's f*** awful spawning got old fast.

Most people can't shoot above 500RPM in semi-auto, so make the cap roughly 550-600 to keep the TTK great for the trigger finger pros, while leaving macro people without a minigun fire-rate.

A tip for console players: I found that flipping the ads and fire buttons from (on PS4) L2 R2 to L1 R1 my rate of fire increased significantly since it's easier to tap those buttons.

I'm so glad they buffed this weapon over the past few months. I've been a semi-auto and burst rifle main for years in COD and get more than a little miffed whenever the ones available are not as strong as full auto guns.

I loved this rifle's raw power, but at the same time I was so glad to get gold on it and never touch it again as it was physically tiring to play with lol
