Great video Phil. We have the snowpeak large hexa and set it up on a 9x9 site, which also fits an oztent, 3 bunkers and my ute backed in for the kitchen. Setting up and packing down solo is dead easy, as you've shown. My only advice is to use seperate pegs for the corners to allow for better alignment and less sag/slap and I often use two ropes and pegs on the side poles for extra stability and piece of mind in high wind gusts. Cheers
@PhilsCampingReviews4 жыл бұрын
Tim Fox thanks for the tip Tim. 👍. I will add extra ropes to my kit.
@surfinwaves47693 жыл бұрын
@tim fox, how windy? I had the large drifta Stockton hexatarp up when 39-60km winds came up overnight. Scary. Nothing tore but it flapped and slapped like crazy I had to keep hammering 30cm pegs deep into ground as wind gusts lifted them. Had two pegs on all the wind side ropes in the end. It needed the help of a hefty bloke to prevent it sailing across port Phillip bay during pack up in 60km wind!! I’ve since added heavy duty springs to each rope to ease the strain of wind gusts on the pegs. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by better alignment?
@bravofoxtrot58114 жыл бұрын
Phil, great video. I have the hexa evo pro, and all the ropes (except main twin rope) I tied a loop and attached d-rings to attach to the tarp makes it really quick. Clip and go. No tying knots. ropes are ready to go.

This is my plan, but what do these d rings look like your referring to?

Great stuff buddy. Thanks for sharing. One quick thing you can use for the ropes onto the sides is a couple of cheap caribee clips from the $2 shops. Clip them onto the eyelets and then your guy ropes can simply clip over the caribee’s too. You can even leave the caribee’s tied onto the ends of the respective guy ropes, then you just simply pull the ropes out of the bags and clip them onto your guy ropes - job done 👍👍👍 cheers champ
@PhilsCampingReviews4 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same, but not sure those cheap clips will be strong enough.

Phillip Damiano I use them on my side awning on the Zook and they’ve copped a beating in windy conditions, I reckon they should hold up ok 👌👍👍

Can you share your thoughts on how those snow peak pegs superior to the screw-in ones?

Snowpeak are made from the hardest steel. I've not had much success with those screw in pegs. Ground is hard where I live.

Hi Phil Does the same peg location magic apply to the 2 ends if you only use 3 pieces of pole as opposed to 4?
@PhilsCampingReviews4 жыл бұрын
Good question. I’ve not tried thus far. apx 2 years ago borrowed something similar to this tarp and we used one less pole section on one end using same peg points.
@haringbandido65922 жыл бұрын
This is the video tutorial I've been looking for. Others mostly use single tie up on the pole, which is difficult if you're solo camping. Thanks for this 🙂 Now you got me to subscribed. 😁

I wonder how Drifta can call it a ‘Hexa’ tarp - isn’t the name hexa a trade mark of Snow Peak brand ?
@PhilsCampingReviews4 жыл бұрын
I think Hexa is meaning of shape. Hence the shape of the tarp. Just a short way of saying hexagonal.
@PhilsCampingReviews4 жыл бұрын
Hexa according to dictionary is a combining form meaning 6, there are many meanings, some I can’t mention here. Can’t see how you could patent the word Hexa
@PhilsCampingReviews4 жыл бұрын
In geometry, a hexagon (from Greek ἕξ hex, "six" and γωνία, gonía, "corner, angle") is a six-sided polygon or 6-gon. The total of the internal angles of any simple (non-self-intersecting) hexagon is 720°.

John Smith yeah I probably wouldn’t agree in saying they’re ripping everyone off - not sure what you mean by that. I do like a lot of their products however like everything of quality, it comes at a price. However like everything in life, you get why you pay for. Buy right - buy once 😉👍

The large you can peg close to the ground, The medium is a bit small, In saying that, the medium does handle stronger winds a bit better. So far I've not had any issues with wind. But I've not been in a storm with them thus far.
