Yep. Just like Benzos and barbs, abrupt withdrawal from alcohol can be deadly. It is however much more toxic than benzos in comparison (if using both in large amounts). With many (at least natural) substances you can certainly get high daily and be healthy physically, but that's simply not possible with alcohol due to what ethanol does to the human body.

One of the fascinating things about dogs owned by "homeless" people is they are often uber-socialized environmentally. Dog just sleeping next to heavy traffic while its owner panhandles, etc. They get to experience and smell around their whole environment so fewer things are novel or alarming to them, which often makes them not pull on a leash either.

Beg to differ. I don't need, want, or expect everyone to look like or be just like me. At the same time, it is UNSETTLING for many people not to be able to see a person's face clearly. That's why so many horror movie villains wear expressionless masks like in Halloween or Friday the 13th or Scream. Even Clowns and The Joker are unsettling to many. Most of us use micro-expressions from the face to determine things like trustworthiness or safety. Having so many face tattoos eliminates this possibility. It erects an intentional wall between him and others. Sounds like this is what he wants, to me. Didn’t he say he wants to be alone, with his dogs and in nature, most of the time?

There was never a fantasy of mine to bang someone and get them pregnant and then say " see ya". Maybe his kids lives were better without him there. Maybe he realized he wouldn't of been a good father. There's a hundred reasons why he left and it could work out in favor of the kids instead of him being there. Then you have the pro life people I've seen on here that in one comment are crying about him not being there for his kids and in past comments cry about abortion. They can't have it both ways. If anyrhing they won yet they still bitch about it. At least he recognized that being there with his kids would of made both their lives worse and left. Commenters praise men for having "a kind smile," a cute dog, and no credit card. Give them brownie points for allegedly paying child support. Meanwhile, the women who are featured on this channel, who speak openly about their abusive families, horrific childhood experiences, their addiction, and their broken spirits are dragged through the mud for not having a part in their children's lives, regardless of the circumstances of their life. What an unbelievably interesting interview. I have watched many, many Underbelly videos, and when I saw this thumbnail, I thought I would have no interest in this story, beyond watching for 1 or 2 minutes. It turned out to be one of the best videos I've ever watched, and I would love to have a standing lunch appointment with this guy each week. So many of these people have interesting stories, I love running across the bright, articulate ones, but there are also some videos that I simply cannot watch. THANKS FOR DOING THIS

Deke has a beautiful resonance about him that vibrates through your camera. His body language shows he is comfortable and grounded in his tatooed skin. He obviously has been through some shit and made healthy changes and received some powerful healing. He seems to brush over that part. Nature can be so healing and having the stamina and will to cover 100s if not thousands of miles across and up and down this country is an amazing accomplishment and has to have effected Deke in a profound way. What a beautiful soul he is. I would love to meet him. I hope you have him back.

Take the internet out. The '80s is still the last great decade where people were totally without the internet and the biggest distraction kids had was a tv. It was just a different time before big tech took over. We still played outside. What a concept huh. There was plenty internet usage when I was going to college in the mid-90s. Used it almost every day for school, chats, searches etc. It just wasn't as widespread as late '90s and early 2000s began to be but people were already getting obsessed with it. When cell phones came into play it certainly added to the craziness.

To be fair as a 2004 baby I would always be outside with friends and playing tag, freeze tag cops and robbers doing dumb kid stuff, still the internet was there but a lot of kids back then still in the early 200’s were more extroverted nowadays kids have the latest I phones, PC’s, PlayStation’s etc, I never see a kid outside anymore it’s pretty sad. I wish I could’ve lived in the 80’s sounds like so much fun going out with friends to dances, concerts cool parties etc. not all kids in this generation are all introverted I’m 17 now and the world is changing but we can’t do anything about it ‘carpe diem’

After walking a distance trail, it's very common for hikers to talk about how they just don't want so much stuff anymore. It's freeing to step away from all the propaganda that confuses the meaning of want & need.

All I did for entertainment last year was take the metra line in Chicago to different places in the state with an electric skateboard. Would usually find a game preserve or someplace publicly private to bunker down for a nap until the early hours. Being out skating as the sun rises just before people are waking up for work is great. Planning to build an actual electric motorcycle to do some of my own trips. 70-80 miles on a charge is a good distance if you stop for lunch and a recharge somewhere. Already go on 30-40 mile round trips on the current bike I have. Wouldnt hesitate to do it all day for a week.

@Carmine Testa I raised my child, giving her a good life, much love, support you could give your child, but they too can decide to leave you and never look back. Mine did, she has hurt me, beat me with her words and never gives it a thought, never looks back and shuts you out. Why you never know, you just know you did your best. Maybe he did too and it just isn’t enough for them. Society makes the rules they live by and we make the rules we live by. Sometimes the two can’t come together. Don’t blame him because you really don’t know the whole back story that brought them where they are.
@terrikaye12114
@terrikaye12114 2 жыл бұрын
I dig this guy, I understand who he is. I am a lot like him. Reading all these comments some good some bad, but the bottom line is we are FREE to live and be who we choose. No one has the right to question his decisions. If that were true we would have the right to question their choices. Variety is what makes life the way it should be, we are not robots. I applaud him for living his best life even if no one gets it. There is a freedom that sets your soul free and we don’t have to be who others think we should be, and that kind of happiness is priceless. While I feel for those who are addicted to drugs or alcohol, your pain had nothing to do with who you choose to become, I was molested from 6 to 14, my mother knew and did nothing, her security was more important. But I didn’t become an addict because I found that while it hurt me in so many ways, I had to forgive him so I could forgive my mother and myself. Tragedy is just another excuse. Deke found his middle ground to be sober and while it may hurt if his kids don’t want to see it and are angry with him, he learned it is o.k. to be his self. You can’t live for others just creates more anger and drama. You have to be who you are so you can love them anyway. Best interview I have heard. Thanks everyone could learn a few things.

As someone who’s stuck in a job that doesn’t pay enough with a lifetime of work and stress stretching out in front of me, there’s a little bitter instinct in me to feel like he should be at least a little miserable. It’s like if he’s not trying and failing to be one of us and isn’t appropriately self-loathing, he shouldn’t be given anything. It’s a small part, and it’s not reflective of how I actually feel, but I know it’s there in my social programming and the thought disgusts me. I hate it here. I hate the way things are. If I could be like him and knew I had it in me to survive, I think I’d be much happier that way.
