The flowers are hydrangeas and are very common to the Azores and Madeira. There are incredible volumes of these on the streets on Sao Miguel that tower over you. For my taste though the Azores are second to none. Truly a paradise that I'm actually quite happy many don't know about. Tourism has consumed Madeira in contrast to what it once was.

I just saw your additional comments - I enjoyed my time on both islands, but I agree that Madeira is becoming consumed by tourism. I thankfully averted most of this due to COVID, but I couldn't imagine how bad it might get in peak summer when there's not a pandemic. However, the weather was a ton better (for November, at least), but I LOVED my time in the Azores in August of 2018 - that was a completely different experience. It was harder to be a tourist in the Azores on this trip, because so much was closed, and tours and transport so limited.

Unfortunately you have seen very little of Madeira, Faial and almost nothing from Sao Miguel.

I visited Sao Miguel 2.5 years ago and visited every corner of the island (my visit on this trip was just an overnight layover between flights). I would have liked to see more of Faial, but no tours were being offered due to COVID, so I opted to stay in Horta and relax. As for Madeira, I saw the top sights, at least, which are covered in my four vlog episodes - you’re welcome to suggest ideas for future visits. A man can only see so much in three days 😂 Thanks for watching 🙏
