As an experienced and hugely successful competitor in something worlds apart from motorsport my advice is simply this, get rid of words or thoughts about failure, disappointment, mistakes, letting people down etc because they will continually be looking over your shoulder. To be successful it is imperative to continually think positive and talk positively. Totally behind you 100% Dave .. ignore the nay sayers. I know it isn’t at the same level but after maybe 10 or 15 years of marshalling and competing at club level I made the jump to championship level back in ‘17. I know I wasn’t good enough and my car wasn’t the most competitive. I’ve heard some of the negative comments about me from those watching on but ignore them even though it was hurtful. Like in drifting the teams competing are always there with advise and help, and that totally helped me get the confidence to keep going and improve my driving. You can do it mate. Dear Dave, no matter how this season ends up, nobody will ever take the experience away. The dream of drifting kept me going while struggling with serious mental health issues. But I got myself a shitbox E36 and actualy competed in a few grasroots events. At 54 I still dream of getting into drifting again and even compete in a pro like event or even series. I have no driftcar or funds but sometimes you need not to give up on your dreams.
