Literally so much of the charm of most gba game soundtracks comes from the bit crushed sound straight from the speakers 😁😊

Remember that the GBA was just an SNES in steroids. They did the best they could. For being portable in 2003 it was incredible.

I absolutely love the distortions! They give it a lot of personality.

All of these vocal tracks in Wario GBA titles sound like they have separated into phrases for each word, and each are applied with delay and reverb separately which plays in real-time on the GBA hardware, to save space. You can hear many of these phrases repeat in other parts in the game's soundtrack. This is also very evident with Wario's voice too, it gets heavily modified and repeats itself with many audio effects and pitch shifts. To top it all off, all of these audio sound files are heavily compressed. it gives such a charm to the final product that can be described as robotic and artificial, haven't heard it anywhere else.

Perfect description of the vibe. Would love if someone put out a VST to recreate the effect on modern DAW's.
@robiocrafteuro Жыл бұрын
@@DoctorWock Thx. I think it could be recreated with currently available plugins. Essentially you just have to test around and tune it to sound similar, find a similar sounding delay/reverb as used in WarioWare, get the low bitrate effect, you can use available audio from gba as reference, or perhaps from available documentation of gba sound chip. Another thing is to chop up the vocals to small bits so they connect unnaturally and repeat a lot. Lol I'm not a musician or technician, but this sounds like a lot of fun to me. cheers

Those cases are when people mean "limitations forced to be creative". GBA, SNES, Genesis, etc have limited audio capabilities but unique ways to work around it and thats how some of the most memorable songs in gaming born.

It's because warioware Inc has a lot of similarities with Wario land 4. I guess they tried to follow the style with many references such as soundfonts and graphics, the game really feels like a "sub game" from warioland.
@TboiEnjoyer82 жыл бұрын
They commonly rip Wario land 4 audio. Or Wario land 4 rips from warioware inc. I don’t really know which game came first. But there are a lot of similar songs. EX: Dr Crygor’s Outro sequence when the toilet floods uses Hurry Up! in Wario land 4
