This channel loves to dissaprove of other car drivers overtaking on the shoulder, blocking and speeding past, but then act blind when a Tesla driver does the same. Maybe some people should realise driving a Tesla and being a bad driver aren't mutually exclusive

@@satya.anandakrishnan Jose was not overtaking anyone in that video and no one in it was driving on the shoulder either. No idea what you're talking about man, check your facts first. (and no, I don't care who's overtaking on the shoulder, if it's tesla or bugatti or fighter jet - they're still a jerk). He let the semi pass THEN tried to merge in the next lane. He was the one changing lanes, so he was the one who should have made sure it's safe to do. The pickup driver was actually impolite too for not letting Jose some space to merge safely, but it still doesn't cancel Jose's responsibility to ensure his maneuver was safe. Also, at these speeds and with how much time Jose had to watch situation around him it doesn't take racing driver skills to make sure you're doing this stuff safely, so... No excuses for Jose, 100% his fault. PS. Actually, to think of it... One can argue that pickup driver might have been at fault too. I can't find the law, but I believe there's a rule that every driver must do everything in their power to not cause an accident even if other drivers violate rules. By this logic pickup driver had all the time in the world to react but they did nothing to prevent the accident, so the fault can be partially on them. It doesn't change what I said before though - Jose is at fault in any case. It just if he's alone at fault or together with pickup driver.

I don't know. It looks like Ben was already moving into the left lane when the truck with NO turn indicator decided he wanted in there first. If there was a car behind Ben his slamming the breaks to avoid hitting the truck could have still caused an accident. His swerving left to avoid hitting the truck seems the smart move to me. It's everything after that point that was wrong. That truck driver was already being a prick the way he was driving as it was.

Yielding When Merging The driver of the vehicle in the lane that is ending, is supposed to yield to the vehicles in the other lane. The cars in the lane that is ending should only merge when it is safe to do so. When merging drivers should make sure they have enough space to move their vehicle over into the other lane. You will have to judge space between vehicles and the speed of the vehicles.

Yeah no, the lane was ending and there was plenty of space, they have to let the person merge in because the lane was ending in a few feet and ontop of that when Jose was already making his merge the trucker driver got faster. I get it if his lane wasn’t gonna end at all and he could keep driving on it then yes he would be 100% at fault but in this case the lane was ending right Infront if him and no yield signs or whatever. So the truck driver had to let him merge but did not and got faster

@@pluto1917 Under the California vehicle code you don't "have to" let anyone merge just because their lane is ending. You have to wait until it's safe, and if you fail to do so then it's your fault under the law even if the other driver was being rude.

In NSW Australia, if someone drives under an overpass with too high a load & get stuck it's a $4000 (AUD) fine for that alone, let alone the damage to the vehicle. The height measurements are displayed on the overpasses.

@Behndo Yes you should. You need to give way. If there is no space you need to slow to a stop. Drivers in their lanes do not have to give way to you (though it is highly recommended). It would have been logical for the truck driver to slow down and let the Tesla in, but as I say, they technically don't have to.

12:19 is pretty obvious that Jose was at fault. Failed to merge. If you run out of road, you have to either slow down or speed up to find the gap you need.

Yeah no cause slowing down or speeding can cause accidents, the road was ending the the ruck driver has to give space for the cars that have to merge in, and he failed to do so, and ontop of that Jose was already merging and the truck driver got faster. So again Jose isn’t 100% at fault, the truck failed to let him merge in when the lane was ending in a couple feet ahead of Jose. Technically, the lane markings between the lanes ended. So, it was one wide lane. Thus, even though the Tesla driver made a poor decision, it could be argued that the truck was at fault for driving next to a vehicle in the same lane.

Technically they were both merging but the truck got there a little bit sooner and proceeded to block the Tesla's merge. It is still probably Jose's fault. Usually cars let you merge, but if they don't you can't force your way in.
