In 1981 Rothmans employed three top drivers to contend what developed into a nail-biting drivers’ World Championship, contributing to the lasting legacy made by this unforgettable car.

The 037 did, but only thanks to skill honed with the earlier RWD's like Ascona, Kadett, MK1/2 Escort etc. Saab had a good thing going for a while too, their driver did full throttle all the time, lift off drift on corner entry then full throttle when nose pointed at the exit. He hardly ever touched the brakes.
