yes it's just come out. Check the arrma site for details, I've not seen one as yet so couldn't say if it looks good.

I upgraded my Granite mega V3 2020 model today to brushless I also got the same batteries as you do but on 3s. It was a pain in the ass to upgrade it I used the stock mega slipper module but installed the BLX module in it 3300kv 3660 size motor 85amp esc and I got two packs of pinions from 13T to 23T and I got the steal 57T spur for it. I had to do some mods to it but it works and omg it's fast as hell 😂 I love these trucks. Atm I got the 18T pinion on it

Great Vid Richie Rich. Those Pro-Lines are a great match for your Granite. 👍👍👍👍👍

It seems to me the drivetrain failed because the bearings failed. I noticed what I thought was rust coming from the bearing in the gearbox during the 4S swap video. I would upgrade to sealed maybe ceramic bearings. That might be the whole problem too. On a geartrain as soon as it goes out of alignment the gears will get damaged. I've heard that the bearings that come with this truck are not the greatest so I plan on replacing them on the Granite I just ordered. I also already ordered upgraded shocks. My buddy already has a Granite and after just a couple runs we realized the shocks were crap. The new ones are much better so I got the same shocks he did.

Sal I'm just sitting down late at night to order the last few pieces as horizon hobby don't seem to have stock of the slipper clutch (WTF!!!! Or are a lot breaking?), and you've set me thinking on the bearings. That said when ever a bearing goes I rarely order the manufacturers ones on the basis that if it's failed once then it's likely to fail again. I'm not beyond ordering ceramics as I've done this on a lot of my go fast stuff. On the down side it'll be past midnight by the time I'm done sourcing the ceramic stuff!!! All goes well, shout out coming your way, on holiday most of the week, but if the stuff arrives should get the video up for next weekend (not this one)

I pulled the gearbox out of my buddy's Granite today to check it. The bearings are leaking grease and the dirt is already caked to it. One of the slipper clutch shaft bearings was a little crunchy, but it cleared out. The truck only has a half dozen packs through it. Sad really. Anyway I've just ordered a full set of sealed bearings... actually two. It was cheaper to order 10 bearing sleeves for two trucks then we can split the costs. I ordered separate ceramic bearings for the slipper clutch/gearbox and some 5x10x4mm bearings to replace the plastic bushings in the bellcrank and idler arm on the steering assembly. I'm just getting back into RC and I used to wait on this stuff. Now I'd just rather do all the necessary upgrades before I even run it.

The diff is bad probably. My Typhon 3s blew both out on 4s. I smoked the front tires till the foam melted to the wheel. HOLY SMOKES YOU broke the slipper assembly! I think you should use the Belted tires with the high speed gearing! It would be most stable that way
@DriftomaniacsRC5 жыл бұрын
THanks, I'm swinging towards using the belted tires. Think it's going to be a real monster on 4S and the speed gearing

My 4S Outcast lost power abruptly during a light bashing at the park today, when I brought it back across the field, a horrible burning smell was emanating from it, and I had lost front drive. I'm curious to see if it suffered a similar fate as your Granite. I'll tear into it this week. Subbed, thanks for this information, hopefully it helps my predicament!

think that sounds like the same driveshaft issue! keep me posted

Awesome vid Rich. Good imput from Portugal and I have a simple question. I saw in this video that you prepare a hex conversion to 17mm. I myself have the same granite with stock 14mm hex. Could you give me the part number of your hex conversion i would be most appreciated. Thumbs up for your work.
@markwatkinson44405 жыл бұрын
Great vid!! I'm loving this granite conversion! I think for the belted tires 70mph and for the speed run tires 85mph!

I know the problem. The bearing inside of the slipper housing seizes. It takes the drive shaft and slipper shaft with it. Next is the motor bearings. You must replace the slipper housing bearings with sealed and the motor bearings with high speed bearings to prevent future failures. Tape the bottom of your chassis where the holes are. It lets dirt right into the slipper housing. Take care.

You need the bearing support for sure..It will save your bearings..Once the rear bearing were lost the rest of the drive train went I'm sure.

Dammit Arrma needs to offer a metal diff and input gear hop up that we can use to upgrade our 3s BLXs'. They could even keep the diff cup composite to save on cost, just make the ring gear metal! Hot Racing's product cost way to much. I want some Arrma upgrades made in house!
@kcmullins61793 жыл бұрын
Imma eventually take it to 6s or bigger but it'll be slammed down ect and do some speed runs ect then I'll take it back down to 4s or possibly 3s lift it up and put a old truck body and possibly 1/8th rock crawler beed locks ect on it and make it look more realistic
@CallMeAdam20235 жыл бұрын
Arrma sells the entire slipper assembly with steel spur gear together for the 4s. Its a lot better then the 3s slipper assembly.

Thanks for doing this experiment for us. I'm surprised that's all that happened. Personally I think speed with this truck is a bad idea. The short chassis, high cg and light weight will make this awful to control. I think it'll backflip before it gets going.

DO NOT Add the Center driveshaft Bearing it will lift up on the drive shaft. Not for the Granite bro. Don’t think it will work. It won’t trust me I tried when my truck was new. And yeah. Nope. And yeah. Shims. Ya can’t shim a dead gear lol. It’s 100% TOASTED Happy to help. 👊😀
@DriftomaniacsRC5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice on the center shaft. On the shims please note I was referring to shimming it's replacement not the toasted one!
@rcsendandblast15795 жыл бұрын
Driftomaniacs Ya man. Don’t shim the new Diffs either. Just run 2 or 3 s easy for a bit to make sure it sets in. They wear out on 3 s hard driving. Can’t get away from that. 👊😀 I just did my rear diff yesterday and a shim won’t fit in there with new gears. 👊😀
@DriftomaniacsRC5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I did wonder about them just wearing out, I've taken it out and the big gear teeth are all fine but the diff input shaft ones are a bit rounded.
