The Moody Blues will always remind me of someone who often made me feel insignificant and are long passed over. I still miss them regardless. But, as long as there's the Moody Blues playing, they'll always be here in spirit.

Absolutely love The Moody Blues. It would be hard to pick a favorite, but this one certainly comes to mind. Driftwood has such a sentimental feel, love the music and lyrics. This might just be my favorite song of all time.

Such a versatile band, always delivering tunes that delivered something very special, Jon ... I like the simplicity used here, in which you created a beautiful tribute to a much deserving group of musicians and vocalists. Beautiful share, my friend ... Thanks so much for (still) creating to the honor of so many fine artists! :) Love & Peace ~ have a great weekend! ~ D :)

+LibraSunRising777 Yes D....I agree they were a great band! Yes as I stated in another comment, I really liked the promo video but it needed polish to really shine and I didn't have to fill in with too much other stuff to help me make it work....things which also hopefully expanded the original somewhat. Thanks to you always....forever in debt for your early and continued kindness. Love to y'all this evening!

Thanks, M.G.M. As a huge fan of the Moody Blues, I never really gave this album much listen, always believing it was the beginnings of the decline of one of my favorite bands. Your videos helped me "see" AND "hear" this album in a brand new way. This cut has now become one of my favorite MBS songs.
@MetalGuruMessiah6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Richard! These are the greatest compliments I can get.... when music fans find a video lets them hear the music in a different way. I've always loved this album, because in '78 it just stood out so beautifully between all the punk, new wave and disco that was so popular that year. This along with "The Day We Meet Again" kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4nRf6GtZciJfJo are IMO two of the greatest tracks the band ever produced. I also did a 3rd vid from a track from the album; "Steppin' In A Slide Zone" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJXXdpV6fc1gfLc (which is a video that I really need to update as it has some interesting effects, but was way too repetitive....a few edits and hopefully it'll be more worthy! ;-) Take care!

Actually Moody Blues are a very good band, I was nearly theirs hater, because of "Nights in white satin", imho totally undeservedly favorited of the mass. That's why I ignored them and always pleasantly surprised when hear some other song, including this one. Thanks, brother MGM!
@MetalGuruMessiah8 жыл бұрын
+wolverine3566 LOL! Oh my my brother....not a band to ignore, and definitely not one to hate! ;-) (and I know you said "nearly" LOL!) These guys produced an incredible body of work, several very strong songwriters....some of the most beautiful notes ever strung together....and their production/arrangements/engineering was always top notch....besides that they could all sing (especially Justin and John could really really really SING!) the amazing vocals you hear on this track by these guys is typical Glad to know you enjoyed this one and are continuing to become more enlightened at the magic that is the Moodies! Peace at ya!....oh I forgot I saw them on tour for this record and they were an amazing live band....believe me they could rock....one of my favorite concerts ever.

'Shortly after release, a promotional video was recorded for "Driftwood." The video features Patrick Moraz on the keyboards, although Mike Pinder is playing the keyboards in the actual recording. The song also includes an alto saxophone which is played by session musician R.A. Martin, although Ray Thomas is depicted playing the alto saxophone in the video.'-wiki

Ok, at the risk of seeming predictable, i was actually hoping this would be a song that you would one day shine a light on MGM. Both for your fans, and newcomers, the exposure you creatively give to artists, and music, that deserve ongoing attention is a beautiful thing my friend. Thank you sir, you are the man! Btw, any love for Talking Out of Turn? Lesser known, but an amazing Moody Blues effort....
@MetalGuruMessiah8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Norman I've wanted to do it for a very long time but after several attempts during that time I finally figured out how to polish up the promo video to the point that I thought it looked good....it was a tricky one. Although I did end up getting some of the instrumental clips (drumming) out of sync...which I was aware of when I uploaded, but it had to work out that way to make both ends of that section sync up?!? ...that is unless I was going to edit yet another clip out to re-sync....which meant I'd have to re-key several other effects...... ...what many may not realize is that these efforts to match up a studio track to a performance video is not as easy as it sounds. Have to chop the video into many pieces, then sometimes slow down or speed up different pieces.....especially to make a longer studio track match a shorter promo/performance vid....."Heavy Horses" was a real challenge because the performance video didn't include all verses, so had to match 'em up best as possible...thank goodness they were rhyming verses of course! LOL!)....."Will You Miss Me" (I remember you remarking on this one....the promo video was edited for the single version so I had to use some repeats to fill it out)......"Six Months In A Leaky Boat" again had to edit the video to fill the longer audio track second two no lips to sync at least! :-)....many more examples of this, those are the ones that come quickly to mind. It's a thrill always to hear that old fans liked the video or that a new fan was made because of the video, but THE greatest thing is to have someone already familiar with the tune say that the video make them connect to the song in a way they had not before....like they've heard the song but the video make the appreciate it more? I do pay great attention to both audio and video to try and achieve the best presentation possible....outside of a professional studio of course. Anyway.....thank YOU for your enduring support and encouragement...it' s nice to know that music lovers appreciate the efforts. And YES Talking Out Of Turn?! another great one from another favorite MB album....definitely a contender....maybe I'll take a crack at it soon?
