Here is the Drill Graft. I do not recommend this graft for all your grafting but it is a good graft to know. Enjoy

What a great beginner videos. I live in Los Angeles, California USA. The average temperature is usually about degrees. 75. Question?? When is the earliest time I can get started grafting? Is there a deadline for grafting plumeria here in Los Angeles? Thanks again for your time/help. Best James

Greetings from a Barcelona based plumeria grower ;-). Nice video and explanation. I'm trying to bring more value to plumeria plants here in Barcelona (Spain), because people don't believe they could grow plumerias in our weather conditions. Thanks a lot for your videos!

This method is very secure. Is this method work only for plumaria? And is there any particular period of the year to graft ?

Great Vid !! Please tell me what you will get from this grafting. An unknown ? A red ? Or the bottom and red with a new color ? Thanks

Hi Carol. I graft very rare Red and purple plumerias onto Celadine. I do this because the Celadine has a root system that can handle colder weather. If I didn’t graft them onto Celadines then they could die during winter when temps are very low and there’s a lot of rain because their root systems are only for very hot humid climates, like Thailand. These rare Thailand varieties don’t grow well in the US because our winters kill them. So you can avoid losing your very expensive new Thailand purple variety by grafting it to a strong known United States cultivated variety such as Celadine. Celadine’s have been around for over 100 years. There are many many many Celadines in Southern California and they flower during November and even into December. Celadines can handle 37-39 degrees at my house with days of rain. If you leave a new skinny RED plumeria from Thailand outside during those temps, you would find it dead the next day but if you grafted it during the spring time onto a Celadine, then that exact same Red could very well survive that extreme cold. AVOID LEAVING PLUMERIAS OUTSIDE when temps dip below 40!! Good luck.

Hey Brandon, what's the advantage of grafting this way? It seems your other wedge cut grafting would be easier and less room for mistakes.

Hi Marc. The drill graft is the hardest one to do correctly and it is not recommended for beginners. I don’t do drill grafts anymore because they don’t heal well. SLANT graft is the easiest and best to do!
