Who walks into a real martial art school and tells the owner what to teach? What? You walk into a TKD school you do TKD, you walk into a BJJ school you learn BJJ... The idea that some kid is going to walk into a school and define the curriculum is nonsense... More than that it's up to the school to maintain standards REGARDLESS of what people like and that is the test of a good school... I checked out a JKD school not long ago their wing chun class and it was pathetic - the owner didn't even want to hear what I had to say.... What does that make him? Well it sure doesn't align with this theory...

Not sure if you’ve ever had your own school. I’ve experienced it. Things like having mostly 10 year olds, or students loading up on some days but not others. These are some examples. I also find it ironic that you asked a question and then said you walked into a school and tried to tell them what to do! 🤔 The example could also be used to demonstrate how an instructor taking a certain stance turns away some students. Again, not sure if you’ve ever owned your own martial arts school. Ideology and Reality don’t always walk the same path.

Another key point we made was about who is available to “walk into the school”. If the only people who ever walk into your school don’t have the aptitude or desire to train to the highest level, then you’ll never have a student reach that highest level no matter how you teach.
