I have literally seen people stop fighting in the streets so cats could go watch Video Music Box back in the days 😂😂😂 Uncle Ralph McDaniels is the ORIGINAL UNCLE ya'll and he is too humble about his contributions to the culture of hip hop...he is an ICON and a major part of the early days and he is likely sitting on DECADES of footage. I was happy when they did the documentary that EVERYONE came to show respect down to Jay and Nas. ❤

All right, fun fact a lot of people know me by the name of Krook. Me and my ex-wife had a rap, duo, called Krook & AliKat. I’m also former Director of the television show on Public Access Studio 202. Which my ex-wife still to this day directs & produces… It was around 2005 2006 we’re up at Koch Records for a video press release for Styles P. Now I’ve been rocking with uncle Ralph since the beginning of Video Music Box. He’s the one that inspired us to do the show Studio 202 along with Robert Matthews R.I.P. that Blessed us with the Opportunity. we’re talking about before Yo MTV Raps before Rap City, BET all of that. It was Video Music Box…. So we’re waiting to interview Styles P and I happen to see uncle Ralph and I’m like yo AliKat that’s uncle Ralph over there. So me as a fan I’m all Star struck and at the time I was just a camera guy so AliKat used to do all the talking. So Im like yo go holla at him. So we walk over there and She introduces herself and I and Uncle Ralph was like “AliKat & Krook! Man I watch yall show all the time pleasure to meet yall” In my mind I was like wow! I didn’t know what to say. It was such an honor and a great feeling to hear that coming from someone like him that I looked up to. Thanks for everything you’ve done for the culture. Thanks for all the annual Block Parties in Brooklyn and how you put on for your city! Love you Uncle Ralph! Peace. S.Shields-Bey aka Kapt’n Krook @Krookmuzik on IG 🙌🏾
