The song gives me the same sensation when I first heard Tokyo drift, it's very fun to listen to. Of course, it's not necessarily everyone's cup of tea, especially people who only like a certain style of hip-hop. But I personally really like it, and I'm happy with YG's typical way of breaking boundaries with 'uncommon' songs.

As a person who enjoys music, I think this album is really smart in including a wide variety of music genres to ensure that in any situation there is at least one song that matches my mood. No matter which song I love, even if I’m not used to it, it’s still a work they made with great care! Why always some people just attack YG because they don’t like specific songs ? This is definitely why I need RUKASA to rap more in Hangul. The hidden nuances to the simple phrases and how it can be translated in more than one way to give it more depth. I enjoy that so much especially when you guys explain it, like Andy mentioned my world literally opens up! 😂 Sadly, rap the English language via a Kpop song doesn't quite have that capability. I'm a 90s kid who grew up on 90's hip-hop as well as 90's Kpop Hip Hop so this song is my vibe. Took me back to that ol' school yg vibe that I rock with added with a dash of late 90s SES sentiment, compliments of the vocal line especially starting off with Pharita. 😊

I think many of monstiez don't hate the song (woke up in tokyo) , its just different and lighter from what they had expected. since the song comes from ' the unit ' that known for having heavier and killing verses. well, Baemon can't be separated too far from its older brother ( Treasure and their unit 's song volkno for example ) in their YG family, right?.

They're saying it's cringey when in fact they're just so close minded and not willing to explore other music styles/genres. It's obvious that WUIT is not targeting the west. It has more of the j-pop sound. But some people are just too slow to see this and decide to criticize immediately instead of analyzing the song better. Hey Andy and Jas, For Woke Up... ABCDEFG "What you know ain't what we see", says it all to me. And then the Tokyo Drift music hits with the beat drop. I'll be honest, at first I was puzzled by this. It has a strong beat with recognizable music samples but I didn't quite get the lyrics. Then I saw the video where Ricky Luna, explained that this is not a western vibe as we expected, a far eastern vibe targeted toward Japanese fans, which is a large Kpop market. I did some research and watch reactors, especially those from Japan, and they loved it and explained it. I get it now. There is an old saying..."we mock what we don't understand". If those who don't understand would open their minds to other music cultures perhaps they, too, would get it.
