Determined - - - girl Corruptness etc. If the country needs quality English teachers, people who are in charge of education (sadly not academicians without the knowledge of education) must think logically and rationally to give skill based English lessons and exams to prepare teachers when they are at school and university. Instead of giving UGC NET and other so called eligibility tests they can be given training in skills. How many NET eligible professors are confident to teach for accredited exams such as IELTS, TOEFL etc., and clear these exams at the first sitting itself, because they are in service already. The NTA has certified them qualified professors after testing, but the certified don't even have the skill of speaking. Let logic and reasoning be unleashed out of exam halls and interview cabins for application in real time problem solving. Let qualified academicians with complete freedom administer education. Let the exams have validity, reliability, legal defensibility etc. Exams can only test, and measure, while training and workshops can make skillful individuals. Poor quality teachers were appointed thoughtlessly in the previous generations, and it reflects on the present teachers. Poor input poorer output!! It is illogical and unreasonable to blame the product abetting the manufacturer.
