What is Aurora Light | Northern Lights in Ladakh | UPSC | Drishti IAS

Auroras are often witnessed in the extreme northern or southern latitudes, such as near the North and South Poles. Why were they recently visible from Ladakh, a low-latitude region in the Himalayas? Aurora lights in red hues were visible from Ladakh’s pristine skies late at night, in the intervening hours between Friday (May 10) and Saturday. Astronomers of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru (IIA) captured the auroras through all-sky cameras positioned around the Indian Astronomical Observatory (IAO) in Hanle, Ladakh. Auroras are bright and colorful lights, formed due to an active interaction in Space between charged solar winds and the Earth’s magnetosphere. Solar winds are ejections of charged particles from the Sun’s atmosphere, mostly composed of protons and electrons.

Bhai hamare sagar city me bhi ye light dekhno ko mili 1 September 2024 ke night 7:00 -- 7:30 ke bich me. Aasman me 1 second ke liye ye hari light chamki aur gayab hogayi. Ham isko dekhkar thodi der ke liye dar gye fir dost se pata chala ki isko aurora kehte hai. To iski video dekhne ke liye KZbin par aagye aur sabse pehle tumhari video mili to ispe comment kar diya.
