Hello and very nice run KYCygni I may have a technique that could save you some time on the Rescue Dubois mission at 1:00:45 : instead of chasing the enemies with Vaubant in the yellow car, get knocked down by the car having Dubois for being able to find yourself on the roof of it, so you should be able to easily destroy the car by shooting at it from the roof of it Hope this can help you

Damn i used to play that game a lot back these days. There were some missions were seems to be impossible to beat to me. Also the Controls with the driving controls of the car with "Ä" (gas), "_" (brake), "y" (left), "x" (right), with a german layout keyboard, forged the controls i use for games like TrackMania.

Absolutely possible, especially because there's an unused strat that saves around 40 seconds alone. That combined with overall better execution of the current strats and better luck can make even 1h28min possible. The reason I didn't do this strat is because it's pretty hard to execute it, and I don't feel it's already necessary to reset runs for it since there's still a lot of time to save elsewhere.

my guess is probably because that is a kind of glitch where, on the third try the route the enemy takes is the easiest or the one with less traffic. i remember how every mission had like 2 or 3 traffic setting that would alternate after very failed and restart, he's probably doing that, restarting to get the easier setting

Why did you need to restart at the beginning of alleyway?

It's a strat to get a better route pattern from the AI. There are multiple routes the AI can take to get to its final destination and in this mission the difference in time between these paths is quite significant. So to ensure I always get the fastest route I restart at the start of the mission until I get it. I recognize the route by checking the traffic pattern, that is the type of cars and where they are in the road. These multiple routes happen in almost every chase mission in the game, it's just a matter of verifying if restarting is viable to save time. That's because in some missions the difference in time between the routes is short or you can't check the pattern right at the start so that you can restart quickly and more than one time to get the best route. However for this second case there's an alternative. I played these missions and restarted then over and over, checking which pattern I got at every reset. Then I calculated the probability of each pattern to happen in a certain number of resets. I did that because there isn't a fixed order for the patterns to be played. So for these missions I restart a number of times that correspond to the highest chance of the fastest route to happen. This is not 100% of course, so you still have to be lucky, however this increases my chances, that's why I sometimes restart in some missions without even checking anything. Hope this helps! :D

This mission has multiple chase routes and the shortest one is significantly faster than the longest one, that's why restarting to get the best route is very important in this case as it doesn't take long and it saves quite a lot of time. You can look at the traffic pattern to know which route the AI is going to take. In this mission, look at the road ahead of the car you're chasing. You're looking for a car spawning on the middle of the road, on the same lane you're on. Notice that in the first and second attempts, a car spawns to the far right, but in the third attempt, a car spawns in front of me. Ignore the car that is already spawned coming your way when you start the chase, you're looking for a car that is facing the same way as you and that takes a little bit of time to spawn far ahead. Set Draw Distance to High in the settings, otherwise it will take much longer to spot the car. Hope this helps you! Have fun speedrunning the game! :D

Yes, I had that problem. Even if I decreased the sensitivity in the game settings and in Windows, it would still be quite high. I had to learn to adjust my aim by walking. I can't aim very precisely where I want to, so I would usually just end up with the aim close enough so that I can adjust it by walking slowly into the direction of the target. That's the way I got used to. If you find any solution to the high sensitivity let me know. Have fun learning the rest of the game! :)

Hey! How did you make the PB video play when you start your run?

I play the video in a media player and use window capture with OBS to record it with the game and splits. I use a shortcut key to start the video while I'm in the game menu. There's a plugin for LiveSplit that can play a video as you start a run, but I don't use it because it takes too long to load the video for me, causing it to be delayed.

As a big fan of the original Driver game I had to admit this is unfortunately a shitty port to PC (just like Driver 2). The free roam element is a complete joke just like in Driver San Francisco. The graphics as well as the controls are shitty. For comparison Max Payne was released 3 years early and the character was made way better back then! Sure the focus here is on the cars but they also don't look nice. P.S. what am I saying... GTA III was made in 2001... Currently checking the vid "The Driv3rGate Scandal: The Full Story (DriverGate) | Fact Hunt Special" probably it will share some light on the issue with DRIV3R

Haha thanks! :D I had to play the game for quite some time to get used to the driving, but even now I still make some bad mistakes. Now aiming in this game is pretty bad, and I'm not very good at it in different scenarios, that's why I try to always kill the enemies with the same strat that I've planned before, so then I know where to aim and how to react. Still, the hardest part is probably reacting while driving, where mistakes usually cost a lot of time. However the good thing about this game in a speedrun way is that some missions have patterns for the traffic, so you can know where vehicles spawn and what they're going to do. I'll say though that I spent a lot of time strat hunting and routing, which helped me get better at reacting to the game and discovering some useful gameplay mechanics.
