I knew the PC version was subpar, just not by this much. Has there been any progress on emulating it through PCSX2? Back in the day it would only run in software mode.

There are more differences there definitely, but they're much smaller ones. Not sure about PCSX2 progress to be honest, there's a new version I think so it's worth a try, although I don't hope much for Driv3r support given how obscure it is.

You'll need to try it yourself but I have heard the performance has improved for Driver Parallel Lines on PCSX2 in the newer versions. Perhaps Driv3r has the same performance boost but idk

The PC version isn't subpar, in fact given what a technical disaster this game is the fact that the PC version can actually run at 60 FPS makes it vastly superior on it's own. What you see in this video are just the very, very subjective opinions of someone who can't let go of the PS2.

Holy nitpicking Batman... I'd say it takes effort to fanboy this hard over the PS2 especially 20 years later, only this video is the exact opposite of effort. 1. Different lighting, if it's just different why is it a win for the PS2? I don't get it. 2. Better headlights, in what way? They're not even supposed to be on, it's daytime, that's a design fail all around. 3. Different interior lighting, again, if it's just "different" why is it a win for the PS2? If anything this particular shot at 0:11 shows how much better the general lighting is on PC, it's a lot more atmospheric and the color grading is much better. 4. Better color and reflections, you can't even tell what color the car is in this shot because of how greased up it is, it looks blue when it should be black. Greased up cars is something most games had left behind in the PS1 era by this point, somehow whoever did the PS2 materials for the cars didn't get the memo. No dude, that's not how cars looked, ever, especially in the 80's when more than 2 coats of paint was a luxury. 5. Water glints missing from PC, literally the only good point in this entire video. However this is another shot that shows just how much better the lighting is on PC, with a much more scenic sunset and more reflective water. 6. Classic headlight trails on PS2, how is this a win for the PS2? The beams are so dim and narrow, hat's not how headlights are supposed to look at all, granted the ones on PC are nothing to write home about either but at least they actually serve their intended purpose, about as well as they can with the tech available at the time. 7. Again, that's not how windows are supposed to look, especially at night time. It looks like someone is constantly hotboxing in the car.

I don't get why you have to argue this hard over a simple video to showcase the differences. This is my channel and my opinion, if you don't like it - no need to start an argument like it's a holy war from 2006 when kids are having too much time after school. I played this game on many platforms and I take the PS2 version as a reference, simple as that. So the PC port in this regard is missing graphical features that were present in the original version. That was the main point. You can tell but 60 FPS, mods, higher resolution, but fact of the matter is materials and game visual style changed drastically in PC version, and it's up to personal opinion on wherever it's better or not and I just shared mine.
