@saturn2fire3 күн бұрын
I think this would be because the director, Steve Wang, incorporated both action choreography and action filming techniques from HK action films. One of the examples is what Jackie Chan mentioned where the camera is still on a wide angle to show the moves and combos. This highlighted the athleticism of the actors. This is no longer the norm in Hollywood mainstream movies where the camera is sooooo jiggly with lots of cuts, angle changes and POV just to hide both the actor's flaws and choreo flaws.

@zhenyamugisa94238 ай бұрын
He actually got roles in big movies of the time but not martial arts movies , Brotherhood of the Wolf ,Island of Dr.Moreau(as the leopard guy) but yeah he should have been as big an action star as Keanu or Jackie chan. Because he is a martial artist and has aged wonderfully like most Asians ,maybe he will have a resurgence maybe with Expendables? I think he should be in the new Mortal Kombat movie

@@zhenyamugisa9423 Oh, I know his work well. And I couldn't agree more with the rest of your post. I like him the most in smaller movies like Drive, Only the strong and Crying freemen is in my top three movies of all time which is saying a lot since I've watched a lot of movies :D

@@x3csP Oh you're talking to a fellow fan who has followed him diligently since 95, Crying Freeman and Drive are among my faves.Technique wise Drive is his best, Stylistically or storywise Crying Freeman is his best. Such an elegant aesthetically pleasant film. I even know obscure ones like Sabotage and DNA. I thought Cradle to the Grave would be the film that brings him back into the spotlight but it's like the martial arts craze of the 90s had died off but yeah he is still fit as a fiddle and needs to do a film just to show guys he's still got it.I mean it's a new wave of old warrior /ex assassin movies like Taken, Equaliser are hitting..why not do one with a sci-,fi element like some time travelling hunter who appears in ancient times, then 1800s and maybe 2010 to battle some time fugitives or exiles. It would have to be big budget I guess but yeah if he pitches it to Keanu with Keanu's clout and interest in acting with co-stars more than once it could happen. He has always been my favourite action star despite knowing the regulars like Van Damme or Jackie Chan ,but Dacascos always got my attention as the most graceful.Incredible martial artist.Like you I wish he was bigger

@ravindavinthescandinavian4998 Жыл бұрын
@@saramcdonalds9038There was a film where Mark Dacascos was one of the bad guys and Jet Li was one of the heroes in the movie, so of course Jet Li won in that one. Just checked and it was called “Cradle 2 the Grave”, and Mark was the enforcer for a gang trying to get some powerful crystals that could generate almost unlimited energy. Jet and crew were trying to stop them. The fight was unfortunately a little anticlimactic - I don’t think the producers wanted to see Jet stretched too much, so the fight was quite dull by both their standards and pretty short if I remember correctly.
