Vermilion, Ohio USA is a 1 hour drive west of Cleveland, Ohio USA on the south shore of Lake Erie in the Great Lakes region of the USA and Canada. Vermilion was a popular drop-off point for illegal liquor from Canada during the days of Prohibition (1920 - 1933). Vermilion was initially settled in the early 19th century and incorporated as a village in 1837. In modern times Vermilion is recognized for its festivals and community events such as The Wollybear Festival and the Festival of the Fish held each June.
