Don't rely in the media to shape your worldview, there's much more to the world than that. It surprises me that to this day some people still can't see the bigger picture for themselves. I currently live in Brazil and it's awesome. Great people, great weather, great nature, amazing beaches and even better food. Let alone healthcare and the fact that they aren't a police state, they don't have a sick excessive competition culture or a corporate whore normativity like the US, where people basically live to work like machines. Also, race is much less of an issue and it's not a matter of division, since literally anyone can be brazilian and being racist in a country like that is just plain stupid, even though there are episodes of racism, but much less than the US. Besides, division and segregation between social classes are still a problem, unfortunately. Other than that, it's amazing how you go from one region to another and you feel like you're in a totally different country, nothing like the stereotyped Brazil that you heard of in the media, where everything basically sums up to Rio, violence and the Amazon. Same goes to a lot of other countries, especially Mexico. The US is all about money and working your ass off. The media portrays the US as if it was some kind of promised land that everyone from every Latin country wishes to live in if they could, bullshit. Most people live happy and amazing lives here, they don't give two fucks about living in the US. The minority that decides to go are desperate people who never knew better (mostly folks from Central America) or some random morons that dream of affording a "cool car" working at a "normal" job, since in their country that's way harder.

If you're the type that can make lane changes with the absolute minimum space and even when your mirror's radar is lit, then Tijuana will be a piece of cake. If you need lots of space and reaction time, I would suggest you take a cab or Uber. In particular, the big left turn going to the customs inspection area is a free-for-all where cars may cut you off by accident or on purpose and those lane markings are of no protection. If you are going to Ensenada and follow the directions to the toll road without making a mistake, the drive is actually real easy except at the border crossing itself.

Jedi One I flew into Mexico and when I went you got in a line after landing. There’s like a traffic light and you press the button. If you get a green light you walk on with no hassle. If it’s red they pull you aside and search you. It’s supposed to be random, but even if you get the green light and they think you look sketchy. They will pull you aside and search you.

the fellow named "You're Right" has got it mostly right, at northern borders US and Mexico customs work together and have a server that they share for criminal records: if US wants US criminals found they upload their files to those servers and the cameras on the checkpoints going to Mexico catches the prep, Of course Mexico customs can sometimes "not realize" this with some money involved in between, but still the record that the criminal got into Mex from USA will still be there and the guys at US side will know their criminal crossed borders. I'm a person that used to cross both of this city's and Mexicali's Borders on daily bases: sometimes twice a day. I'm a Mexican citizen that studied my whole life in US grounds since I was a small kid. This is by no means unique: its actually extremely common on border states, in fact US customs and highway patrols have to deal with the deranged driving mothers of carpools every morning on US school routs within the city borders. Yes some criminals like to think they are smart enough to smuggle people and or drugs across into USA but at lest 90% of them get caught by either the yellow bars(sensors) right before the checkpoint with the custom where he/she asks you questions: that to this very day creep me out only by the fact that they have the total power and say if you never get to see US grounds again in your life if you sneeze or look wrong: not all are like that but you can be unlucky enough for the custom to be in a bad mood and you making an honest accident and the guy thinks you are trying something. When you cross to Mexico the only think you cant do is pack up a whole store and try and cross it due to tax evasion or if they see you crossing new tv they will try get some money out of you by some law loopholes just because they think you have enough money with you to "share with them". YOU CANT FORGET that Mexico side law always relative to who pays best ALWAYS. They wont say it or even deny it but if you are to pass a red light in Mexico you can always give the officer 400 to 500 pesos and he will let you go: today 500 pesos is around 25 bucks (25USDs). So yea, Mexico has its beautiful places: if you are a random tourist just keep a very close eye on your belonging because if they get stolen they are gone: do not try to get them back, that will only make you a target for a more organized crime. I have lived half of my life in this country and half in USA and I have to say that if I have to pick one it will be USA only because I can actually work without random "organizations" asking for bogus permits that only their sub organization can provide for a very high price. Its a place where people that are wiling to work their asses off and be smart get robbed by their lazier criminal appealed counterparts... Great place for party and vacations if you are cunning enough, a great risk for the rest.

I was really surprised and shocked (not really) because Tijuana really looks so much better and more new buildings around. Last time I visited Tijuana in June 1993 while I was staying in Los Angeles for two weeks and my best friend and I drove down on the Interstate 5, and we had to park one of his parents’ cars on the USA side, instead of the Mexican side or the car could have destroyed. We walked on the bridge that led us to cross into Mexico from the USA. We walked on the bridge over the smelly awful Tijuana River to go to a bank for an exchange currency. It was too risk for us because there was no security camera even no security guard inside, so we decided to leave (there was one of the female tellers who laid her eyes on us because we were very good looking guys) and walked to an exchange currency office which was much safer than the bank we stopped. We walked on Revolution Avenue in Downtown Tijuana where there were so many stores, restaurants, and bars, but it was very dirty (I suppose now it has been cleaned), so were the buildings (I watched one of KZbin videos of Revolution Avenue there about 2 months ago and the street really is very clean and the sidewalks were upgraded and many new buildings were built that I never saw them before). After we ate at an authentic Mexican restaurant next door to Hard Rock Cafe Restaurant, we walked under the railroad bridge on Revolution Avenue to reach the post office located a block or couple from that bridge on the left side. Oh My God, things were behind there like no computerized scale and some others what many American post offices had and of course,it really broke my heart when we were there (it is a Third World county... BIG SIGH! I hope Mexico will be much better like the USA and Canada one day, but one problem is that the Mexican government is corruption). I used my tongue to wet on the Mexican stamps (they tasted so awful and I do still have 2 Mexican stamps plus also some Mexican money as souvenirs for my memory) to affix them on each postcard. After that, we were too curious to stop at the grocery store located across the street from the post office, but we left the store and walked back to Revolution Avenue where we shopped and the total of items for my family and friends on the East Coast was around $60,000 Mexican Peso (or it was like $60 Mexican Peso) which was about $120 USD because I used some US dollars when I purchased because it really saved me lots or if I used the Mexican Peso, it means that I would have to pay higher prices and/or more. After we crossed back into the USA, a U.S Customs guy asked me if I purchased and I said “yes”. He then asked me how much I purchased plus we ate the restaurant and I said it was about $60,000 Mexican Peso = $120 USD and I asked him if I could show him what things I purchased there, and he said it was not necessary. We walked to the car before we drove up on the highway on way home, but it was shit because of the rush hour in San Diego, so we stopped at McDonalds next to the highway to avoid from driving back home. There were many U.S. Immigrant Officers on the highway to check if the Mexicans hid in the cars and of course, they told us to stop and asked us if we brought any Mexicans in it and we said “no” as they let go without inspecting the car. It probably was because they trusted us with their “positive (or good) vibes”. If they had negative vibes, probably they would inspect anyway. They cuffed so many Mexicans and put them into vans on the highway before they were deported back to Mexico. After we arrived home, I took a shower because my skin smelled so awful from the Mexican air. I would like to come visit Tijuana again one day, so that I can compare between my last visit in 1993 and next visit soon. Well, I hope my Tijuana story is not the best bedtime story because of too long. LOL! I just wanted to share what I experienced there with you. Before I forget to mention, my first visit to Tijuana in June 1992 and my last visit there in 1993 plus I bought a Hard Rock Cafe tee shirt with Tijuana on it, but it was lost and too bad on top of it, it was closed due to too many crimes which were caused by the drug cartels in 2000’s that led not so many people to that restaurant. Thanks a lot to the drug cartels. Now, it has been much better because some drug cartels were already arrested by the Mexican Federal Police, while others were killed by the Mexican Federal Police, that is what I was told.

The border toll gate even had the distinctive metal speed bumps; definitely paid for by Mexican taxpayers

If the American citizens drive out of Tijuana, they still have to pay anyway like many foreigners visiting the USA still have to pay the toll fees anywhere.

I had to escape Tijuana in a high speed pursuit after the police tried to get me to go to the police station. I said I would follow in my car, then I took off with them in pursuit. Not a good education for my teenage son who was in the car, but I wasn't going to have my cards drained at the police station. Yes - it happens! And NO - I don't go back for visits or shopping trips. I am jusy happy to make it out with my skin still attached. It doesn't seem like a good international relations strategy as those who get hassled over there never go back...😳

Yes/no. How did Mexico especially Tijuana get improved? The NAFTA has helped. If not for the NAFTA, it would remain as a poor country. I went to Tijuana twice (1992 and 1993 and before the NAFTA was formed), it was very dirty and many places were rundown (not always) and dirty.

You were just seeing the good places in this video. TJ is a very bad place and it’s very dangerous. I feel sorry for the people that live there as they are usually very nice. But walking Avenida revolution, you would see that it is a slum

@@hectorcampos9244 you're joking. Even TJ cops are crooks. They will randomly stop you and hand you a ticket which with a hefty penalty. Of course they are more than willing to forget about it if you pay them 50 bucks. Yes. If you go during the day and stick to Rio or Playas you will be ok but stay the hell out of the eastern parts.

Virtually nothing of Tijuana... Mainly Freeway. What was the point ???
@CesarCinema

The point is to show the drive into Tijuana. People are nervous about driving in because they don’t know what to expect. If you would like a video on how to drive around Tijuana I would be glad to make one for you.

Weldon G well I am not from the state of California but just search up San Diego to Baja California border crossing and you’ll find your way there. Once you enter Baja California (Mexico) go on the Mexico 1D coastal road freeway (IF you are going to ensenatta Mexico. But your best bet is to use a gps. Watch out for crooks, pedestrians, crazy ppl and you’ll be good
